I bought the rev.304 as soon as it was released. I have been using the 1304 and just recently updated to the 1479 and don't like the new bios one bit. After seeing how many different bios were released between 1304 and 1479, I realized I need to find the good one amongst the group. 1304 was fairly good but I don't know if anything better has been released.

What seems to be the consensus with the best bios thus far? I see a few mentions for 1463?

1463 is the best, as far as BIOS settings and experimenting with overclocking. However, you can forget about upgrading to Vista while using 1463. You have to be at 1479 for Vista to even come close to working correctly. This is a real mess engineered by Intel. And I can see no reason for it except to sabotage us long time users (I bought a v304 the first week it was available; about a year ago, I believe).

With this sort of treatment I have to admit that Intel is not an "enthusiast friendly" motherboard manufacturer. Despite how much I enjoyed the D975XBX early on, this action by Intel has lost me as an Intel customer for life. Their action means that customers will never know what action Intel will take during each BIOS release. They will likely screw you at some point. What a pity. Intel.
