i dunno. but i personally use panaflo FBA12G12H on a controller also
when i turn it down. it goes silent (for me) but it still pulls a load of air thru a 240rad. (high static pressure 38mm fan?)

and when i game with cans on, i just turn them up a lil. at full 12v, freaking thing feels like a table fan.

    Not too shabby.
The CPU temps are not physically possible even for 4x Prime/Orthos, forget about some really heavy loaders like Sandra Multimedia burn-in, Intel TAT so on.

Don't get me wrong, I love the silence of my yates, but over the years, every fan I've seen die has been a sleeve bearing type. They get noisy, then they die.

Cheap enough to replace, but I have a feeling these won't last for 5 years+ like the ball and fluid dynamic bearing fans.

Ball bearings get louder and louder as they wear out as well...but ball bearing fans are generally louder at low rpm, I think.
Papst fans seem to be of good quality, maybe I should order a few... don't got money now but maybe in the future (iany isn't going to be happy )

"5 years+" is a joke ? Your entire computer will become totally outdated in less than 2 years.

Well do you replace your fans when you replace components?
I think he wants the fans to last longer so he doesn't have to order more, but 5 years is a long time...

I guess you didn't read my statement that they are 'Cheap enough to replace'.

My point was sleeve bearing fans have a short lifespan in my experience.

    That was all.

    thanks.

    what about this fan?
    http://www.svc.com/a2368.html

    it's rated 21dB and pushes 78cfm ... doesn't that make it a little better than the YL's?

There seems to be no industry standard for dB measurements with these fans, so only subjective testing is reliable unfortunately.

Yate Loons are the absolute best fans in the world! They are of the highest possible quality! They are ultra silent and last forever! Everyone please please please keep buying lots and lots of Yate Loon fans!!! ... Cathar says he designed the PA120.3 with Yate Loons in mind!!!!! Hurry... buy lots of them !! They are $3 now, maybe they'll be $2 next year... and someday, you'll be able to buy a baker's dozen for $10, preferrably at Wal-Mart or Costco !!! Let's e-mail them and ask them to put red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet LEDs.. oh.. aquamarine and chartreuse LEDs would be good as well !!! Buy buy buy !!

No, Thermaltake lies about their specs. It isn't 78 cfm nor 21dB, guaranteed.

I have brand-new sleeve-bearing fans that sometimes rattle excessively at low speeds. I've never had that off a ball-bearing fan. I guess it depends how lucky you are with tolerances.
    Current: E6600, AT1950XTX, P5B Dlx, 2Gb OCZ Platinum 1T, 4x320Gb Seagate, Tt Tai-Chi case, D-Tek FuZion, MCW30, Tt P500 7W pump, Swiftech 7/16" tube, HiFlow barbs, TC PA120.2, w 2x Scythe SFF21 D, Scythe SFF21 E, Scythe SY1225SL VBL
Planned GFX loop: MCW60, DDC+ w Petra's top, BI GTS240 (or a PA if I can fit it in somehow)
Parts waiting for attention: MCW60, PA120.2, PA160, BI GTS120, BI GTS240, Apogee GT, more Scythe fans, DDC+ w dodgy AlphaCool top that no longer leaks (but does rattle) and a box of Tt landfill that came out of the Tai-Chi

Nobody here use Noctua fans?? I've got 5 in my P180 and I can barely hear a whoosh of air when I put my ear beside them. 1200 rpm, 63cfm @ 18dba. Too low pressure for most rads? I can't imagine that, the Panaflo and Nexus are lowflow as well.....

LOL Thermaltake fans are funny as hell. Lying about fan specs is one thing, but giving different specs to the same f***ing fan??? Thermaltake Thunderblades say they are 21db, 78cfm. Then we have the thermaltake fans that come with the cases, which are labeled 17dba, 78cfm. Then we have the TTBT fan which is rated at 16dba I think... Now what the F*** is going on here???????
