If its barely warm @ 83C then the contact between the sink and CPU must be very bad, you really need to check the TIM
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's

False, CPU and heatsink are lapped and contact is excellent

Lapping CPU and heatsink gave me an 11C load temps drop

it should be a really good one. Everyone wants to get their hands on the "B" chips because they will do higher clocks at lower voltages, but they seem to run a little hotter at the same volts/speeds as a comparable "A" chip. Have fun with it, should hit 3.6GHz easily id imagine, but of course YMMV

Maybe the CPU could reach this. But not with my board. It has a xtrem vcore drop (set to 1,7v in bios an 1,52v under load). And it seems that my board doesnt like my e6600. Every mhz over ~380mhz fsb is unstable. with my e6400 i could set it up to 500+.

    Anyone tested MX-1 on C2D?
I ran out of AS5 and put some MX-1. Now I have to wait a few days to see the results.

There's a difference between nicely fried French and over done French Fries LOL

I helped a guy with OC and overall modding.. his P4 805 ran at 69C when Intel states 64C is max. When I slowed the CPU fan just little bit with a paintbrush (nice for dust cleaning), There was an immediate BSOD. and again at boot (less load).. so , its nice to have a CPU/Sys overheating control but running too hot .. well you understand

I think it's the lowest voltage on this frequency, but I'll try lower.

Paintbrush for dust cleaning is a good idea

No BSOD's for me yet. If I remove one fan (4 total) from around the Tuniq Tower, the CPU starts to throttle a bit

I am having some major issue with my new setup.

I just received my Asus Commando, E6600, Tuniq Tower and G.Skill PC8000 memory. I am a "noob" so please forgive me, but I have read through the entire commando results thread and many of the sticky's and am perplexed. My issue is that I can't even maintain stability at 3.2GHz. Prime95/Orthos crashes in one minute. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

    Sorry for being so noobish!

no need to be "Sorry for being so noobish" . everybody doesn't know something.

I suspect temps , i.e the Tuniq might be improperly installed .
did u put good thermal paste ?
If Crash occures at temp Y , than , load Bios Defaults and see if it crashes at same temp Y .

Thanks for the kind words. It's nice to be welcomed here on this forum!

I suppose it is possible I installed the Tuniq Tower wrong. I followed the directions as best as possible and hand tightened the four screws until I could barely turn them anymore. Is that too tight? I also have the fan inside the unit facing the rear of the case and blowing air out the back. Is that correct? I did use Arctic Silver 5 for the thermal paste.

Here are my bios settings that I used when trying to reach 3.2 stable (I have a E6600 overclocked to a 3.4 stable on a P5B Deluxe with no issues, but something is wrong with the commando setup ).

    When overclocking my settings were:

    Using Bios 803
    Spread spectrum - off
    PCI clock sync - 33.33
    PCI express frequency - 100
    DRam - 1:1 (533)

    CPU Vcore - 1.45
    FSB Voltage - 1.4
    NB Vcore - auto
Memory voltage - 2.3 (per G.Skill specs. I have the DDR1000 stuff rated at 4-4-4-5)
DDRII Channel A, B and Ref voltage - all 3 at auto
    SB Vcore - 1.5
    SB Chipset Voltage - auto
    ASUS C.G.I. - auto
    Static read control - auto
    Cas Latency - 4
    Ras to Cas - 4
    Ras Precharge - 4
    Active to Precharge - 5
    Write recovery time - 6
    DRAM TRFC - 42
    DRAM TRRD - 10
    Write to Read - 10
Read to Precharge delay - 10
Write to Precharge delay - 11

CPU ratio CMOS setting - 9
    C1E - disabled
    Max CPUID Value - disabled
    Vanderpool Tech. - disabled
    PECI - disabled

Sorry for the long list, but I want to get this issue fixed.

    Thanks!

up the vcore to 1.5 (only after you check the temps at the moment)

Also, your ram is underclocked, 1:1 with an fsb of 355 (assuming you're at 3.2Ghz) is only 710Mhz

He shouldn't need 1.5 on the CPU for 3.2...

Shouldnt certainly does not mean doesnt

Some chips simply need a little more voltage, and 1.5 is safe on air.

if the pc crashes at certain, low, temp , overclocked AND default , than the cooling is suspect.

With a help from Mr. Deeds and other like you, I seem to have gotten over my initial hump. I changed the vcore to 1.5V and changed tras from 5 to 12. That ram is rated at 5 tras, but if it doesn't work and will only work at 12, so be it. I will mess with it down the road to see if it is really the tras or the extra vcore voltage that fixed it.

Obviously I want to overclock higher than 3.2 What is the recommend voltages for running my e6600 at 3.6 on a Tuniq Tower (CPU Vcore, FSB Voltage, NB Vcore, SB Vcore, SB Chipset Voltage)?

Cheers to Mr. Deeds and you all for helping me out. Hopefully this does the trick!
