Can anybody help me understand the PCIEX16_1 Frequency setting?
I have exactly the same results in 3Dmark06 with the PCIEX16_1 Frequency at 100 and at 140!
The only downside is that I have to raise the NB voltage by 0.1V?
thanks

Increasing the frequency of your PCI-E bus will do little to nothing to help.
Leave them at 100.

my rig likes 0402 better than 1002.. 1002 not getting me to same clocks on cpu or ram as 0402.Originally Posted by slim142

If you have dual 8800s, 0402 may give you some issues. But I have only had occasional static sounds with my X-Fi with either the 1002 or 0402 BIOS and my dual 7800GTXs. The static sound disappears with a restart on my rig, it only happens about 1 out of 20 starts for me.Originally Posted by andyr(uk)

0901 and 1002 supposedly have a fix for SLi sound issues with an x-fi.

I just tried 0402 and it was not so good on my board.
My made in Taiwan Striker came with 0701 BIOS, maybe the recent production Strikers might have some slight hardware changes that don't make it run well on an early BIOS, who knows...
I'll stick to 1002 BETA ,it really makes my OC better; got my Team Xtreem memory at clocks I've never seen before and make the ES CPU run a little cooler.

I just received my board today. Hopefully gonna boot tonight.
I'm worried about the whole China/Taiwan thing now.
My box's serial number sticker says made in China but, the board says "PCB made in Taiwan".
So which is it? Do the China boards say made in China right on the board? If so, where exactly on the board should I look?
Thanks a lot for any help.
Hi , does anyone know if the striker is effected in the same way as the Evga 680i mobo with the use of a quad core cpu , and if it is effected in the same way do you think asus will recall ours

One that stops you getting high fsb with quads ,apparently effects 680i boards, its been stated as the GTLRef bug in another thread and thats why Evga are bringing out there rev 2 board .Originally Posted by Lood007

So far, does anybody have a 1.03 revision striker extreme board?
Does anybody know anything of a soon new BIOS release?

I was messing about with my new striker today and then it seemed to die ;( i tried all the things suggessted in the various internet forums but no dice. I know that modern PSU's have a cut out so I tried an alternative PSU and lo and behold. 1/2hr later I retried the old PSU and it worked. Apparently CPU init is a normal cpu initialization code and the problem lies after that...... Anyway I'm still reeling from all this data- (Many thanks Eva2000) bottom line. what are optimal BIOS/memory settings for decent PC-8000 rated 4-4-4-12 on the Striker?
There were a few times that i thought i killed my board.
But after a lot of resets and some praying it came back.
I'm not even religious. hmmm maybe I should be :P.

Few things for some guys with no boot after updating for 1002 BIOS. Some guy said that they leave the POWER ON button pressed for couple of minutes with only the power supply/cpu/hdd/memory/vga card connected. Did worked for couple of people.
Also, New BIOS guys, no changelog/fixes/perfomance improvements show anywhere but I just flashed and I see it the same as 1002. I would really like a changelog.
I have a question for everybody. If you are running Orthos at 1.36v and everything is running fine but from nowhere the vcore goes down to 1.34v, can Orthos fail? Because something like that is happening to me, Im running at 345mhz at 1.36vcore (1.38xxx in BIOS) but from nowhere it went down to 1.34v at 20 mins and Orthos failed right there. Can that happen? I mean can the sudden vdroop cause that?
Finally, It seems like my CPU loves power, when I say power I mean VCORE POWER!, eva and everybody, do you think is normal that my board runs at 345Mhz FSB at 1.36vcore (1.39xxx in BIOS)? Because I see it kinda high, but if I lower the CPU vcore even 0.0625, it will fail orthos.
Any comments about this?
ditto; but i have bad sound problems with sli and 0402...so changed back to 1002...
? 1002 i have no sound probs at all. with that striker mini sound card or my old aud2zs.
well; there aren't any other bios's without vstraps except 0402 and 1002...right?
and 1004 i assume.

Hi.
Yesterday ran into some problems with my striker/6600/OCZ9200. It was rock stable at 3500mhz cpu and 1150mhz/5.5.5.18 ram. Suddenly the screen went black for one second. It came back irregulary. Some bluscreens also came up... Now I cant run either of the rams at that speed....
I remember this from my old Evga POS board. RIP.
Anyone but me seen this...?
anyone tried the 1004 beta yet ?

Fixes
Asus Striker Extreme Bios 1004 Changelog
1004
----------------------
1. Added New Micro Code to support new CPU
2. Use new German translation.
3. Enable support for PreslerXE & SmithfieldXE CPU
4. Fix incorrect Vcore when setting above Vcore value to 1.8V
5. Fixed CPU Vcore cannot be set by user when Overclocking at some frequency
Not really impressed. I would like eva2000 to do some tests to compare it to 1002 and also to check if there is any perfomance improvements.
