I saw similar cr4p on a Rev 505 BAd Axe 2 board. I have a stepping 5 2.4ES E6600. Multis are from 6-9 inclusive. BA2 bios wouldn't allow me to change Multi & reported it as 9. CPUz always said it was at 6 & the resultant Mhz was
2394. On RD600, If I drop the Multi to 8, 7 or 6, Orthos always says the CPU Mhz speed at whatever FSB I am at but as if I had a 9x Multiplier. I also noticed My Computer/Properties/General Tab showed the CPU speed to be based around a 9 multi.

    So, with Bios settings of 464fsb x 7xmulti = 3248, but Orthos & "My Computer/Properties/General Tab" showed 4176 which is 464 x 9.

Whilst we all know Bill Gates s/w has holes in it, no way does Orthos report the same speed as Bill's General Tab, or even vice-versa.
Perhaps knowing where this info is collected from, might offer a solution to correcting this. I feel the RD600 is doing something horribly wrong with it's current Bios Code & don't feel to be in total control here.
I refuse to go over 1.48V for 24/7 use along with Tony's guidelines of 1.5 & I use Danger Den 1/2" NB cooling. I can manage 464 fsb with my own discoveries on ASYNC, but for the life in me, taking the CPU right out of things will NOT allow SYNC stable over 370Fsb. I'm gutted for nealh, especially when he ran benchies in SYNC (1:1) several times at 400 & actually blew something for reducing to 380??

Perhaps someone can offer some sort of explanation to these anomalies soon.

I tried to test my board today, but I only got a Celeron 346 (3,06 GHz). The PSU was Chieftec GPS-400AA-101A (ATX 12V 4 pin). So, I red in the board's book that it suports C2D, Pentium D and Pentium 4, but nothing said about Celeron. Today I asked M3kk if it should work with this kind of CPU and he said that it should be OK.
Well, I started the board, fans spin up and that's all. Nothing on the screen, nothing from the keyboards LEDs, nothing from the diagnostication LEDs on the board. It just runs like that, with no actioan at all. Any ideas? Was it the CPU or it can be the board?

    Thanks.

you guys are nuts putting 1.7-1.8v on the chipset..the chipset seems way too fragile ....

The CPU was good, memory was good, all components were good. I did this to test the board and I don't know what to think now.

Get an 8 pin 12v PSU....while a four pin "may" work for awhile you are asking for trouble. I speak from experience...
When it's good it's really good...And when it's bad I go to pieces...

This was just the testing and didn't worked. I know from M3kk (with his board) and another that tested this one that it works just fine with this 4-pin conector. But I'll build my "custom" adaptor and later buy a new PSU.

I used a 4 pin on my RDX200 and it was fine for about eight months. Started gettin wiggy and died. Tried a few different things and decided the board had died and sent it off to DFI only to have it returned in the same condition. Dug up an 8 pin psu an voila. Back to folding 24/7 she went...

Just not worth skimping on one of the most important parts of your system...

    I have a question.

Well my chipset idles at 52 C which is pretty sad, stock voltage. I cleaned it all up, AS5'd it up, still too hight for me.

What would be a good cooler? I have a tuniq Tower so yeah.

Whats the max I should let the temp get.

It's already in the red at idle in smart guardian.

    Any suggestions?

Add an 80mm fan directly over the NB heatsink. I get 48 idle - 60 load with 1.42v in NB. I am using AS5 on NB as well.

that was on the CPU, not the chipset the chipset didn't get more than 1.53V...

@metalman2785: thnx, no chance, the last stable setting was at 3.8MHz with temps going to 60C on the CPU, I'm going to leave it at 3.6MHz 24/7 till I get a HR-05 and maybe can use smaller volts, but now I'm going on tweaking the memory
Did anyone else on water make 4GHz stable (E6600) for 8hrs orthos, if yes please post your settings?

they must be getting alot of return/replacements

I ran 425x9 (3.825) @ 1.5vcore for an hour last night. Load temps were hitting 70C with Orthos. I might leave it running tonight and see if I can get 8+ hours of stability. I don't think my cooling can handle anything above 1.55vcore without loading the chip too much

Hehe, bulit one out of an old PSU's ATX conector. Now all I have to worry is how do I solder this in the place of the actual 4-pin conector.

Thats good news to hear. Does this mean if it destroys itself inside the next 12 months, you get a straight swap out from newegg?

accrording to the return poicy on my invoice..I can get a replacement within 1yr..not sure what happens if a second one dies

Price at newegg is now $220( i paid $270 at launch..guess it is worth the extra money becasue otherwise I would have been screwed..I will call tonight to start the RMA process....you should see DFI RMA form...kinda BS to me...and they have 15 days to send out a new mobo...it would take upwards of 3 weeks with shipping both ways to get a new board from them)

Chipset drivers are inside the Catalyst Drivers no need to search. If u install Catalyst it will install drivers automatically.
