    Nvidia recommends Windows XP only

    http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37598

makes a strong showing today, with most of the hardware sites reviewing different brands that are now coming to market with the most affordable DirectX 10 cards yet. Oddly enough, it seems Nvidia's reviewers guide explicitly called for reviewers to review the card using only Windows XP, since Windows Vista is not currently supported. Pretty funny, especially when you see all those Windows Vista Ready stickers on the retail boxes.

well considering the thousands of man hours they put into their XP Drivers and the rather sucky Vista drivers. the funny thing is that ATi now has the better drivers

some conflicts and lower performance and an apparent inability to play DirectX10 games. Though supposedly they are working to fix that.

Here's your shiny new DX 10 card, oh wait only put that in DX 9 Win XP. Makes a lot of sense to me. nVidia and Creative must have the same people writing drivers for both companies.

    QFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nVidia s*cks and they are making it seem Microsofts fault.

There have been beta versions of Vista and Longhorn for years now, all the other companies can get good drivers out there except nVidia and Creative (but the XP drivers from Creative sucks as well, so no surprise there).

Nobody expects the drivers to get the same performance as the long developed XP drivers, but they could have done way better.

Ah well, at least my GF4 TI 4200 runs great in Vista (with Microsofts drivers that is)

Nvidia recommends not to play games on pc's. A guy from Nvidia says: "these are machines for bussines if you want to play games why are you buying pc not console?"

I like their drivers, I don't like the bloat that comes with them though. CCC consumes too many resources while sitting idle, don't know if it changes when a game is fired up.

Doesn't in XP. But the move to CCC as has been mentioned before is not their choice. Microsoft is pushing everyone to switch to .NET. Could easily be many times smaller and more efficient if it was just C++.

Nvidia has them, they are in beta, and they are just as bad if not worse.

the drivers are terrific as long as you don't use linux or CCC... i just use the WDM and control perf options with third party apps like Ati tool or systool or ATT

The new CCC is not all that bad @ all. Much quicker and slimmer.

Good to hear, I haven't used an ATi card since my 9800 Pro. Now I'm waiting on the ATi DX 10 cards and will determine what I need from there. I'm not a fan of any company, just a fan of cost/performance. I can say too that I'm not much of a fan of the new nVidia control panel. I like my classic style damnit, and apparently you can't use it in Vista.
