    Gigabyte 975X-DS5 Review (56K friendly!)

Gigabyte's 975X solution for Conroe has never made it into the market successfully due to a myriad of reasons, including the successfully "QUAD" marketing campaign of their 965 series mainboards and strong competitors in the market. Nevertheless, We have managed to lay our hands on one of these boards, and here we present it to you.

Seems like a cool board, but what's the point if we'll never get to play with it?

    Layout is terrrible.

Look at where the 8 pin CPU Power connector is, you'll be routingt cables around the heatsink.

Also, I can see 2 SATA connectors being quite difficult to use with a full length card in the secon pci-e 16x slot.

Also looks like installing ram to slots 1 & 2 would be difficult with a full length card in PCI-E 16x slot 1.

And just look at where you've to route a 4pin molex for using 2 gfx cards??!!!!! Wow, not designed very well.

At least the IDE & Floppy connectors are in a decent position....
