    Dominator Fans?

Hey, Yellowbeard, I am going to get the Dominator 6400C4D, which does not come with the cooling fans. However, I do want to have the fans if possible. My question is this: Can I buy the fans and attach them to the 6400C4D modules, or will they not fit at all? Also, are the fan modules sized to 1 fan per 2 DIMMs, or does the 1 fan module cover all 4 RAM slots? If the fan module is only for 2 DIMMS, can I put 2 fan modules side by side to cover 4 DIMMs, and will they fit?

    Thanks in advance!

DOMINATOR airflow assembly covers all four DIMM slots when installed. It will go along with your 6400C4D, just like it does with any of our DOMINATOR modules. No worries

DOMINATOR fan is included with 6400C3DF, 8888C4DF and 10000C5DF as they are all rated 2.4v at stock. We do not include it with 6400C4D, 8500C5D and 9136C5D which are spec'ed at 2.1-2.2v. That does not change the fact, that it can be purchased separately and will definetely fit just fine.

Thanks bachus, thats just the thing I wanted to hear!

Now, if only I had not blown all my cash on the CPU and video, I might have been able to afford the 8500C5D....Oh well, maybe next time.

This shows exactly how they clip on.
As long as the memory modules are not taller than Dominator modules any will work the the fan assembly.

You could use it with any memory, it clips onto the dimm clip, it doesn't actually clip onto the ram

Well, there is some memory it will not work with. For example, those sets that come with the heat pipes appear to be too tall for the clips to allow clearance over the top of the heat pipe. I have not tested our fan with any water cooled DIMMs but, I think some of the water cooling blocks are too tall as well.

Anyone else having a problem with fan squeal? I just bought one and when my machine first starts they squeal. Bad batch maybe? ...and yes I removed the fan to verify it wasn't another fan in my machine.

I had one fan unit do that for a while. It would whine a little at boot then go away as it warmed up. After a bit of continuous usage, that has totally stopped. However, we'll gladly replace it if you like. Or, you can wait a little to see if yours "fixes itself" if you don't want to wait. Use the TSX Tech Support Express link in the stickies here if you want to start your RMA.

I have the same issue and it is getting worse, instead of better. Problem is I am in Canada and am not sure of the cost of shipping being worth the RMA.

I am on my second one and it is as bad as the first one.

I have not ever actually tested one. However, based on the pictures it does not look like the retention brackets are long enough.
