    Carbon Li by ediejo

    Lian Li 201b/Carbon Li

    Casemod for Point of View.

    Translation courtesy of frenkie.

    The sponsors

    Specs

Graphic cards: Point of View 8800GTX sli
    Power supply: Tagan TG1100-U95 1100W
    Memory: Corsair Dominator TWIN2X2048-8500C5D
    Mainboard: Nvidia 680i
    CPU: Intel

    Cooling

Cpu, Graphic cards & Hard disks will be watercooled by Innovatek

I dismantled the case for a large part. I will start the topic beginning with the dismanteling of the last part of the case.

The lower part for the 12 HD’s has been removed.

The parts that will be used again.

Solid door. Comes in three parts.

    Last headstock nail drilled out.

    Not much left this way.

This part is nice to work on, I have all the space I need. Thinking about the stealth part which will be used in this case as well.

And the rest of the casing completely disassembled.

The case bears the theme Point of View.

One sidepanel will bear the Point of View.logo airbrush.

The other sidepanel will get a double windowframe with pieces of text, which also will bear the Point of View. theme.

Other materials that will be used. Aluminium for the stealth part. Several sorts of plexiglass.
The rest of the case will be polished or chromed.

I can start with the carbon.

I workout some idea’s about the carbon. So I will make a cover plate for the drive bays. I do not put the led's like in the stacker810. I did that before led's in the coverplate. (see the stacker810) When i do that againg the concept is not originel in my eyes.
To cover the DVD-ROM and the reservoir for the water-cooling. The bezels will be change for carbon. Also the mainboard tray will be carbon. And some more parts will be covered by carbon.

On the bottom from the case and on the part what separate the case in two parts there I will put white plexi. To let the outside colour come back inside. I hope I can make my own radgrill from carbon for the dual radiator in the top from the case. To let the inside come outside.

At the door there is a part of black aluminium that will be chrome. Now I have 3 colours White Carbon and Chrome.

2 from the 3 colours are coming back in the watercooling.

For the CPU from Innovatek the G-Flow

    The VGA cooler.

And I do something with the cooler. The black part will be covered with carbon. The aluminium part will be chromed. So that it fix with the CPU cooler.

The reservoir the black fass-o-matic from Innovatek. That comes in the carbon plate behind the door.

I have also 2 x 120mm radiators from the Msi. By one the aluminium part will be chromed and the other one will be black. The black one comes in the front at the bottom from the case. And the chrome one comes behind in the case.

At the bottom part from the case everything will be black because the watercooling for the hard disks are also black.

And the power supply is also black.

The casefans are also chrome with white led’s

I order also some led’s by Ledsee

    White one.

    And purple one

I think about purple light at the bottom part from the case and white light in the top part. Ore the hole case purple. Let me know what you think about it.

This looks like its going to be a very good project. How hard was it to drill out the insides? Im going to be doing the same thing on my v2000 soon, to get the insides anodised.

The outlining of the two plates of plexi.

This is the well-known piece of tape and the rest of the supplies I need to outline my plexi.

It’s always convenient to have two pieces of plexi. In that case you can use one as a measure instrument.

The bottom piece of plexi is quite simple. A straight one with two slides in it.

Let’s see if it will fit tomorrow.

Than it’s time for the upper piece of plexi. There are a few corners which have to disappear, so I have to cut them out.

Also for this one stands that you have to measure en re-measure it en then with a pencil you draw the correct lines.

So, this one is ready too. Tomorrow I will start with the sawing part of the job. I will do that on a sawingbench, that goes very easily.

It’s not that exciting, but I’ll see you tomorrow and then we will find out if I outlined it correctly. See you tomorrow!

This case is sponsored by Corsair, the Dominator TWIN2X2048-10000C5DF. This memory is a specially design, and made for the new Nvidia NForce 680SLI motherboards

There is only one problem whit the HX620W. I’m still in discos whit corsair about the power supply. Maybe one supply is not enough for the system, and there is room for 2. Tomorrow corsair will contact me for further information

@Veedo, I was for the first time at the Cebit in 2005 with the extreme lian li by Point of View. There I came in contact with corsair. And from that moment the support me, with my casemods. This case is also going to the Cebit with Point of View. So that’s the reason. That factories support me to build this system.

    @Sneaky, Thanks.

No casemod update, but I’m still working some idea’s out. I had to glue the REAL carbon on the aluminium inside of the case. And I think it works well. Thanks GoTall for the advice.

I had a idea for the extreme lian li, that I made about one year ago. Now I’m going to use that for this system. I’m making a custom bottom part for it, like this:

I hope to finish the steel work tomorrow. On the picture you l see Point of View and sli , this will not be standing there. The bottom will also be powder coated to fit by the rest of the case.
There also will be 2 Corsairs power supplies in the system to be 100% sure that it have power enough.

No that idea was for the Extreme Lian Li. But I never work it out. So now I use the idea for this case.

But the idea is one year old. So I change it a little. There will be now plexi with light between the cases. So as I say before. This time there will be space between the bottom part. And the case. The will be also a border from carbon about 1cm high. And the space there is between the to cases will be lighting up with purple led’s.

    See the drawing.

    Now a real update

First I’ll make two acrylate strokes,
    One for the upper part.

Here also comes a stealth plate, later I will put carbon on top of it.

Then we have the plate for the lowest part.

The both slides for holding the psu.

    And it fits.

The extra piece that I will place underneath the case, hand made.

    Some close up photo’s
The bottom piece is made of 3 parts. This is made of the same material as the stacker810 stealth. -I made it with the same tools too.

I use the same machine’s for the bottom part as for the extreme lian li and the stacker810 stealth.
    The cutting machine.

    The movebank.???

    The welding machine.

And the tools to make it smooth.

Here you can see the well on the inside, At the same time you can see what is done with the move bank and what is done with the welding machine.

This is the way how it looks with the case on top of it.

On the front it’s a little lower as you can see.

I almost forgot the slide panel.

@Bryan d, I hope after this weekend to start with the carbon.

    See you later.

Today I started with cover the mainboard tray. I don’t wane see the holes.
    First cut some carbon fibber.

    It’s good to do.

Little pieces I cut them free hand style.

    Not really exiting.

Take over the pieces that must be cut out.

    I love proxxon.

    The last part by hand.

Drill the holes for the mainboard

    That fits.

    Some more holes.

Take over the holes on the mainboard tray.

    I drill them some bigger.

To get of the alu from the carbon is a hell of a gob.

But after 15 minutes it is of.

The extra holes are for the led’s behind the mainboard. So now there will be light behind the mainboard.

When you put the mainboard in front of it. You don’t see the led’s

    See you soon.
