You can use single stages on QX chips. I remember seeing that FUGGER has a 24/7 QX6700 running at 4.2Ghz which is on a modded VapoChill.
They just need to be tuned for a higher heatload really. Or a more powerfull compressor may help.

Keep an eye on the chilled liquid section.
Keepaf1 is in the process of gathering parts for his new system.
He's getting a quad core, evga 680i, x2 8800 graphics cards and cooling them all on a chiller I designed and built for a 500w load.

Any NL11F based system or better can hold a quad core easily without much modifications.

This weekend a old customer brought his modded vapo for retune, all that was needed to optimise for quad core was a little more gas to hold the high end easily.

I am not sure what is the situation for American 60Hz 110v compressors, the NF9 seems to not hold up as good as our NL11F 220v models.

Cheers for clearing that up guys! I was getting a little worried about moving to quadcore.

I think we should be tuning for 230 watts, with the unit holding around 250. I'm going to begin experimenting more on proper SLHX to help with this size load. But I think Im going to need a new load cell in my load tester thats rated for 300watts...

My vapo is somewhere between 4 and 6 psi, if you pull into a vacuum you will not hold the load when overclocked. Adding a bit more gas would fix/help a ss that cannot hold the qx loaded.

Temps with my rotary SS was -40°C on load with QX6700ES @ 4400Mhz 1.65V.
    I get -48°C with my e6600 @ 4500Mhz 1.75V.

The NL11F systems have no problem as Johann states. A retune is sometimes needed though to handle this higher load. Tuko is using one of my units as he states above with no problem at all. Another four customers of mine have Quads with NL11 based systems again with no problems after tuning. With this high load and NL11F running in Vacumn is very hard I tune for around 3psi when fully loaded.

I agree, Nowhere near 300w, I think even 250w is too much. My feeling is its more in the region of 200-230w as NOL said.

I retuned a unit this weekend for an old customer, I have hte data here on performance on my variable loadtester, Once Tony can give me some feedback on temps of his quad core we can compare them propperly.
