I say forget about the HIS 1950pro and get a Sapphire 1950xt. Its just 20 bucks more. When my HIS 1950pro arrived I didn't even opened the box. I sold it to my nephew (Yes, I'm mean... ) and got a 1950xt.

I'm pretty sure you ed up. Maybe it's fixable, if it's the paste or if the cooler is mounted badly.
LOL nah, I reinstalled the stock cooler, after reapplying the thermal paste, and played BF2142 for awhile. I RMAd the card the next day, and today I ordered the HIS IceQ X1950 Pro: 620/1580 from the box. Also, I have read reviews that say the card actually clocks ABOVE the stated clock, one review said 635. These speeds while running cooler than the ATI reference. Here are some pics.....mmmm mmmm good!

all copper! And they have separate sinks so the heat doesn't bleed over from the core>memory>VRMs, and vice versa

DOH! Oh well, my RAM, mobo, and CPU would bottleneck both cards anyway. Does the X1950 XT have native Crossfire support? This is the main reason that I wanted another one anyway.....not to mention that I'm probably not even going to bother with OCing the card that much, maybe a little, but I'm going to order a MOBO as soon as my Sapphire RMA goes through, then I can OC my CPU and install the Team Xtreem Cronus RAM that is waiting at my parents' house in Little Rock. God I hate the city that I live in, bunch of hill people around here :\
BTW that's funny, you pushed the HIS on your cousin, I'm going to sell my old X300se to my neighbor.....THAT'S mean!

binormalkilla, that cooling on HIS IceQ X1950 Pro looks great!

I'll wait for artic silver thermal adhesive and then I'll put good sinks to those VRM heat spots.

I guess that W1zzard starts soon figuring out how voltages on these PCBs could be soft-modded.

Soker, that is a good score! I only had 9021 with my old Sapphire X1950 Pro. On the other hand you have a c3duo, much better than my CPU. I still have some Swiftech RAMsinks coming in the mail on Monday, so I really don't know WTF I'm going to do with those.....maybe put them on my mobo VRMs. I'm ordering a DFI Lanparty CFX3200 as soon as my other X1950 Pro RMA gets to newegg. You guys have any idea as to which IC chips that I should cool with these chips? I don't really think that there is any "stone left unturned" by HIS as far as cooling is concerned.
BTW Spacehead, if you haven't gotten your hands on a decent heatsink for those VRMs yet, check out these Swiftech MC14s:

Large surface area, made of forged copper (better than cast), though they are a bit expensive compared to others. $18.99 @ newegg.com
I have spoken (so to speak) with a reputable OCer that is currently using them with his Sapphire X1950 Pro, and has achieved an OC of around 650/760 using these on his VRMs, and I think the memory as well. He also has watercooling, but the core temp isn't the limiting factor, the VRMs temps are.

I ordered two of those, then I won't need expensive Artic Silver Thermal adhesive.
They cost 26 € for 8 pieces in here

OUCH! Yea I know euros are a 2x exchange rate, I was born in Germany.....not that they had euros then, but I pay attention to my homeys in Europe! I really would love to come visit, as I can't remember anything.....I've been to Spain, England, Italy, France, and of course Germany, but I can't remember a thing! LMAO
Also, since I ordered the HIS I'm going to use the MC14s on some MOBO chips: someone told me earlier that they help when you want to crank up the voltage.

For now, only way to volt mod these cards is hard mod. W1zzard, me and one other guy tried to figure things out, but we found no solution. When I install better sinks to VRMs, I'll mod VGPU to 1.4V with pencil :|

I have heard from another person at Guru3d.com forums that the Gecube 256 Mb (the one without thermoelectric cooling) really sucks. It has a different PCB design, and he couldn't monitor temps.....

We'll continue testing at evening (it is 6:46 PM. in here). I will put an aluminum sink to gpu vrm as soon as superglue softens and I can wipe it off. Then some AS5 between and I hot glue sink to place. Pics coming of course.

OK, sorry but no software voltmods for this PCB. Anyway I hope my new heatsink on GPU VRMs will be working well.

Can't OC more, even with that heatsink. I need to raise voltage. I'll get conductive ink soon.

This is using a Sapphires X1950 Pro GPU.

Overclocked with ATI Tray Tools 2 665/783
Swiftech´s MCW 14 ramskins installed on VRMs.

Im having a mayor bottleneck using this single Core Opteron 146 @ 3 ghz.
Will post results later when using E6400 or E6600 (that will bost specially 3dmarl 06 scores (and probably will not bottleneck the other scores).

Ok, this is using the new WarCat drivers from XG.

    A little bit more OC:
    @ 665/783

    3dmark 05
    Catalyst 6.11: 10,757
    Warcat: 11,405

    3dmark 06
    Catalyst 6.11: 4,800
    WarCat: 4,933

This is what I call a more mature driver.

600 extra points for 3dmarlk 05 and more than 100 in 06 reflects a good driver.

Thanks for the link to the driver

    Some 3dmark 01 results:
    Warcat: 33,546

    3DMARK 03:
    Warcat: 17,725

Anyone tried the 6.12s with a single card? I have the Warcat 6.11s and I doubt that they will beat 'em! I have downloaded the 6.12s, and I guess that I will try them tonight......I'm scared........LOL ATIs drivers aren't always the best.
BTW what's up Kain, from guru3d.com the old copy paste, 'eh?

No, its not Windows Vista (Vista can run 3dmark 06 and actually I got also the same scores (maybe 100 points less... but that was predictable).

No, I havent tried the 612 drivers but as Binormalkilla said, I doubt they beat Warcat XG Drivers.

Also, we dont have CF cards, so, I will stay with these.

Birnormalkilla, its not the same post, actually it has some changes and is not as old as you think, as you can see, the results are better than the last time, and those you see are just the ones I got yesterday and posted today (at the same time as I posted here and over Guru3d).
