Yeah, I hear you... up to 480 would be great!

BTW what are your settings for 460Mhz? For the life of me I can't seem to get my fsb over 450MHz... Any tips? what is your ram voltage? cpu volts? mch? fsb? Turbo? etc.

    Thanks!

    Hi.
    I've got a S3 Rev. 1.0.
Can/Should I flash it with the DS3-Bios? What are the advantages? Any problems?
Can I flash the DS3-Bios with the Gigabyte-Software?

Will I have problems with OCZ Rev2 Kit?

Yes You can, I've done it. Advantage: DS3 mobo/BIOS has ever so slightly better clock for clock perf according to AnandTech. Disadvantage: none, that I can think of.

Yes, Gigabyte @BIOS Writer will flash a DS3 BIOS to the S3 board, while the built in Q-flash won't let You .

Will I have problems with OCZ Rev2 Kit?
Don't know, depends on the version of your current BIOS I think.

wow, im up to 2.8ghz (400fsb) 1.1memory at 800mhz, 60c underload. Seems pretty stable, going to run some stress testing for a hour or so. Memory is at default 4-4-4-12 still. I have not had to adjust ANY voltages so far..lets see if its stable after a few hours though before i get all giddy. lol

Long as 60c is "ok" underload might stay here till i get better cooling., Amazing what adding 6 fans to case does :P

    Put
    CPU Vcore 1.35
    DDR+4
    mch +2
    fsb +2
    4/4/4/12 timings
and set the FSB to 450 (keeping a 1:1 divider of course)

    See what happens....
    Nothing anymore

Well been running for 30min or more now and temps hovering around 64c. I don't want to raise any voltages I don't think. 2.8ghz prob where i should stay atm. Anyone know wth is a "ok" temp for these things? So many diffrent answers in forums from 60c-75c. lol

Edited: YIKES. Intel says 61.5c is max recommended running on load. Time to lower clockspeed some.

Well, if you have the Vcore set to AUTO in the BIOS, your more then likely feeding the chip more Vcore then 1.35

Speedfan reports its at 1.30 VCORE. Is that not accurate and should look in bios?

    Use CPU-z for vCore readings.

DS3 F8I BIOS, got to 510x6 (X6800) at 4-4-4-12 today without the resistor change, Corsair PC8500C5 and GEIL Ultra, your mileage may vary, still working with Gigabyte on it tonight.

Flashed to F8i... loaded optimized defaults in bios and STILL can't boot past 450Mhz... Board just resets back to stock speeds on my e6300... UGH

Tried lowering multi to 6x and going for 460Mhz and it was a no go even though i can run this chip at 3150MHz (7 x 450)...

I'm stumped... Is there a setting in bios that screws you if it's enabled? I disabled all the thermal crap... Is it because I use a USB wireless mouse and keyboard? WTF?

Newbie poster and longtime lurker here.................

Interested to see actual memory bandwidth figures from you guys chasing higher/better overclocks than what I do (see signature)

I am interested in a stable and reliable overclock while still having a relatively large cooling reserve for those days (just about everyday here) when we hit 34C ambient.

Bit of experimenting resulted in what I run now as being the happy stable/cool/reliable medium with Orthos, Pi, Sandra etc etc etc all OK

Only thing still puzzling me is memory bandwidth - with the pleb stuff I run, what am I missing in real life when compared to some of you guys running on prime sticks ? ................... Sandra 2007 SP1 scores memory bandwidth at 6280/6260 currently ................ anybody else with prime sticks able to post a memory bandwidth figure off Sandra 2007 SP1 or any other readily available bench? (Sandra CPU Arithmetic bench gets me 30240/21030 fwiw)

Have you tried changing the voltages?? Try increase the Memory voltage upto +0.6v (or maybe +0.7v).. (G)MCH Voltage +0.2v, vCore +1.425v ~ +1.475V are acceptable..

I don't think USB wireless mouse/keyboard is the problem..
