Victor, I retract my preivious statement LOL You might also want to do the MCH mod so you have give your north bridge some volts. With this conroe setups in order to hit certain high fsb's you will need to pump some volts into your northbridge... The mod is in one of the pics in my last post.
Also, with the badaxe you can choose different fsb straps. I would stick with the 1066 strap with a higher fsb... The reason, is the chipsets internal timings will stay tighter while using the 1066 strap than they will when using the 1333.. They automatically loosen to adjust for a higher fsb while using the 1333 strap. So most people are booting with the 1066 strap and using clockgen to get the clocks up. You will notice faster superpi times among other stuff. I hope this helpsIf you want to read up on the difference between the 1066 strap and the 1333 here is a great thread from Tony.... His thread is based on the i965 chiipset but it pertains to the i975 as well...
With the exception that you might have to tester wether running ram at 1:1 or any other divider is faster for you.
1:1 is faster on my setup, but that warries quite a lot.

If I do the Vmch mod I might as well do the Vfsb and High Vcore mods and go for broke. And I thought this was going to be a 24/7 cruncher.Originally Posted by njkid32

I am also wondering why you guys picked the GT1000 HSF over the TTBT or the Zelman 9500.

On a side note and WAY Off Topic, you might want to consider your sig there big man. Although i realise the Crunch3r sig is from our days at Rosetta, i think we all decided that Optys are a no go for WCG. So what I'm really saying is, some nOOb, like DogRat et al on WCG forums might start a thread saying "XS's biggest cruncher is optimized... look here [Link to DDTUNGS sig]" even though you're not really running optimized files.![]()

Good to hear everything went smoothly![]()
The main intention was to get you a nice new toy to play around with a bit and after that use it as cruncher.
The HSF was a donation and we didnt plan to buy it in the first place.
Of course a BT or Infinity has a sligthly better performance, but that doesnt matter that much for a cruncher.

Ahh, The heatsink. That was a donation from one of Jose's buddies.Originally Posted by DDTUNG
Yes, not a BT or Scythe but it looked pretty decent to me.
I looked it up on the web and it looks like it will have decent performance.
Remember my note, this little project sort of took off on itself.
There's a lot of people out there that when they heard this was for you just wanted to be involved.![]()

About the Heat Sink:Originally Posted by DDTUNG
I was talking with a friend about the whole project. Aside: Victor these guys are nuts. Let's say had it not been for some rational voices (Dave) you probably would have gotten a Cray . But I digress.
My friend, caught the bug: after he read about you and the project, he asked me if we could use a Heat Sink since he got an extra one that was lying in his house unopened.
I checked and found that HS would fit the CPU and asked Dave if the HS was good: Dave, said it was nice one.
I also read some ratings and people like it. [ LOL for all I knew, it looked like a sex toyAside : My friend's GF said a HS of that size could be used for some sexy things.]
My friend told me the HS has higher ratings than most of the HS that could fit the CPU. I took his word, the ratings and Dave's comments.
Also and I am honest here : It was free. I was told that an Xtreme Systems member's first obligation to the team is to grab free computer parts parts and then ask the questions of who can use it and how it can be used.
Victor, I assumed that if you couldn't use it for the cruncher in question , you could do some creative stuff with it.
So it was accept horse first and check teeth next![]()

My friend parted with it and was very happy in joining the group in preparing the gift for you.
All I hope is that my small participation in this project yields a monster cruncher in your hands.
Victor, without meeting you personally : I have come to appreciate your integrity , your dedication to a group and from what I have read your monster abilities as an overclocker.
All I wanted to say was: Man, we at XS are glad we have you among us. I , a small cog of XS ,am proud to have you as a teammate and compadre.
Okies: I just got misty eyed

1304 and latter allow up to 1333+50% FSB, all others previous to 1304 only allow +30%. With 1304 and an unmodded board (cept the debug mod, which doesnt really count) I could get to about 430MHz. I dont think theres been a big difference in overclockability between the BIOSes so I'd go for 1304.

The rig is in Windows comfortably over 4G, but not benchable yet. Have to do some more tweaking to get it 24/7 stable.

I was running with phase at 4.2Ghz 24/7 stable and benched at 4.6Ghz on that board.
Are you 220v there?

thats a good week 6700, thought it might do 4100 on air, and I'd guess that with the British influence that HK is 220V.Originally Posted by FUGGER

Yes we are 220V, Charles.
The 6700 needs 1.55V to run Windows above 4G, probably 1.6V+ to be benchable, on air. So I guess good weeks do produce average chips.
Unless this Intel noob is missing something here.![]()
