I'd die for 324 FSB ( @ stable ), what's the secret?
I think IDE Controller in the chipset is my problem, should I do a Vchipset mod? What do You think? I'm stuck on 300 FSB.

( maybe I should get a second Asrock 775Dual-VSTA board, hey they're so cheap )

Alright, finally able to log in.
I've now done 2 of the Vmods; Vdimm & Vnb.

350 FSB @ DDR400 @ 2 2 2 5 1T speed!!!



Sadly I'm only j/k of course, but the mods works and I'm now able to clock the BH-5 mem up to 225MHz mem speed ( 2.95V needed ).
Only bench stable though.

But my BH-5 sticks aren't interesting for 24/7 use, the 2GB DDR UCCC mem are and I have one hell of a tough time to clock them at DDR400 @ 1T settings.

I'm now going to reboot and see if I can break 302 FSB barrier with the Vnb mod in place, wish me good luck!

Edit: @Alchemist; yeah I've read those threads. If I can't get 300 FSB 100% stable ( which I apparently can't when Prime95 fails ) I'll put CPU back to default and don't bother clocking this setup at all.

I'm now dual priming at FSB300, with 2GB DDR UCCC mem at DDR400 @ 3 4 4 10 1T @ Vdimm=high.
So far so good ( currently at 40 min ), the thing is I need to cool these mem with very cold air, with low ambient temp ( +5'C ) or else Prime95 craps out after 4 minutes.

That - or - maybe my Conroe E6600 is utter crap and needs the very low ambient temp for 2.7GHz.
It can't be that bad, can it?

I've removed all Vmods because they didn't help me a bit ( apart from the Vdimm mod which helped me clock BH-5 mem a lot higher ), but the low temp definitely do so I'll keep the balcony door open forever and put on more clothes.

No actually, I'll remove the heatspreders on the mem. Get some Cu ones, use a good thermal paste and add a fan over the sticks.
They must be overheating.

I'll work on higher FSB when I can get this 100% stable.

Dual priming at 306 FSB, doomed to fail!
I actually made a misstake earlier, I used fast V-link speed.

Adjusted some settings and said: "If FSB300 doesn't work, maybe FSB306 will". You know that "famous" FSB300 bug.

It’s the first time that I hear someone with this mobo running on sizzling ram.

Core 1 always fails.

I'm only using 2.7 Vdimm = high in BIOS. These mem only need 2.6V to function properly up to 260-270MHz. They're PC4000 mem.

But I can dual prime - as it seems - Small Test @ FSB306 forever so I guess it's not the CPU, not the mobo but memory or northbridge.
Fine, let's put mem on divider or use 2T or use the flex "poor perf" option You may say!?
The sad part, it doesn't help me. Large test still errors out at 300 FSB.

I must play more with advanced timings.
But first I'm going to try boot at FSB312 and do some torture with dual prime Small Test. Test the CPU so to say.

Huh, 312FSB didn't post, how odd!??!

Starting all over with different mem, this time with 2x256MB PC2700 mem @ 3/5 divider.

IF IT FAILS NOW at FSB302 in Prime95 Large Test it's not the mem and ... I GIVE UP!!!

Alright, when I'm using a X1900XT I've never bothered to do the Vagp mod.
How could an AGP mod possibly help me pass memtest & Prime95 large test at FSB300!??

Well, I did the mod and immediately I could pass memtest86 not only at 300FSB but 310FSB too, and post & boot at FSB315!!!

So I guess this is in reality a memory controller mod ( or somehow connected to mem ), kind of.

Still, dual Priming large test fails at FSB300 even though it's perfectly benchable up to at least 315FSB.

I have done the highest cpu pin volt mod for the D 805 and got it to
4000Mhz.
I can boot into Windows at 4080Mhz but its not stable.
Thats 50% Overclock with this mobo happy happy!

No luck for me, no FSB300 for me. I even lost the damn MAC address after a CMOS reset. "MAC address invalid in both Flash and CMOS, press F1 to continue"!!!

So, no 10/100 MBit LAN until I figured out how to recover the address, my network card.
The chip had to be reprogrammed.

Um I think the losing of the MAC address was a BIOS issue. I believe to get it fixed would require sending the board back to asrock. You could always use this as an excuse to upgrade to gigabit ethernet card

Yeah, losing the MAC address is probably a BIOS issue.
And not a small one either. But it can be fixed and I luckily recovered it.

How to Write MAC address of your motherboard;

1. Create a bootable system floppy disk.
2. Download MM.zip and unzip MA, MAC.EXE, and MM.BAT to the floppy disk.
3. Use notepad to open MA file in the Windows OS.
4. Find the MAC address sticker on the motherboard and replace the MAC address in the MA file.
5. Boot the system from the floppy disk, run MM (A:\mm <Enter>) to write the MAC address.
6. To read the MAC address from the motherboard, run A:\mac r<Enter>
