    P4G8X and 2.4c ??

Hey I've got a P4G8X that was given too me by the guy I bought my vapochill from. I was thinking about putting it in my son's Koolance system with the POS 2.4c I have. the only question is weather I would be able to run the fsb @ 200mhz or more. I looked around at some of the granetbay posts and it seems that most people were getting around 180mhz or so. Anyone have any experience with this mb ?? is a 220-230mhz fsb possible ?

I don't get it until tomorrow so I havn't taken a look in the bios, I don't know what dividers are used and what the bios goes up to in fsb.

    impossible...800mhz fsb isn't supported for 845 chips.

It's the Granitbay E7205 chipset not a 845, I know the 800mhz fsb are not officially supported on the P4G8X but If I run the fsb up to 200mhz whats the difference ? I just haven't seen any post of where the P4G8X hits a wall with fsb.

Just currious, I guess I'll know this weekend.

Edit: I'm not looking to OC the chip since its just going into my sons Koolance system. But I would like to run the chip at its rated speed if not a little more. Other wise I will end up with a 1.6g with 133mhz bus ? hehe or a 2g at 166mhz. I don't think my son would like the downgrade !

Hit and miss I say. I remember getting my P4 2.4b up to 194 FSB on P4G8X Dlx. The same CPU went up to 203-4 FSB on P4C800Dlx. At that point, I figured my particular P4G8X Dlx wouldn't be able to reach 200FSB no matter what proc. But I've heard some that when beyond 200FSB with it too.
Hit and miss as any other OCs are what I am thinking.

I'd be content with 200mhz, my son's Koolance has a A7V8X and XP2700 in it now but I'd like to sell off all my amd stuff. If I can get it to 2.4g with HT I think that should perform on par with what he has now.

I tried a 2.4C on my P4G8X-Dlx and it only was stable up to 185fsb...
I had XMS3500C2 so mem couldnt be a problem
and I had a 460w PS unit, so that shouldnt be a problem...

Welcome to Xtreme Forums dbwillis !

I've only been able to do 188fsb, after that the nb craps on me.

I've decided to leave my son's pc the way it is, I've got an IC7-G on the way and will use the P4G8X with a different chip as a back up rig.
