    i had the scythe mine, very dissapointing, go for the ninja

    This MB does not like my graphic card had to cheat it with a VGA PCI 1MB...

    They're both good coolers. I've used them both, with slightly better temps from the TTBT. I had a Silverstone 120mm on both of them. You can't go wrong with either one, so there you go. One thing - if you ever plan on stripping your CPU - the Ninja will be a no go. Too tough to get equal pressure while mounting. All of the clip style coolers run into that, so keep that in mind, as well.

    The VX uses a clip mount system, the standard uses a top plate & bottom plate. Standard should be better if you're ever going topless.

    I have had the ninja and the typhoon on my system (see syg) and both performed equal with the same fan, Noiseblocker SX2 Pro @ 1500rpms.

    the Ninja with this fan was quieter, but i bought a tuniq that slashed 8º C

    in load. Just amazing.

    The poster asked about 2 specific coolers not any others.

    The difference between the 2 big typoons is with mounting brackets for AM2 and none for Socket A, it can clip onto your existing mobos socket cage without bolting through mobo and its fitted with a variable speed fan.

    Crap. Went from a CNPS9500 LED To the big typhoon today and its pretty much the same. What the hell? getting 57-58c at 3.36ghz at 485fsb 1.4750 Vcore

    I decided to go with a ninja and a high powered delta fan.. I havent installed it yet but im sure i'll be happy with it.

    Remount it, check your airflow.

    the BT should be 5c or so better than the Zalman, as well as cooling down the Mobo areas near it. your PWM IC temps will drop.

    Yes, 2 things have happened, water cooling has became more affordable, but high end aircooling using heatpipes is great, cooling a gpu/chipset/cpu with waterblocks can be great but if your doing to keep noise low and running very slow case fans and you have volt modded and overclocked your rig to hell, the rest of mobo gets really hot too, I prefer air cooling esp with a good airflow going over all mobo, mines aint noisey and its overclocked 40%.

    Each to their own but the answer to your question is that these top few good air coolers can cool as good as some water kits.

    I disagree with humeyboy (a little)... I'd clarify by stating that high-end aircooling is now certainly on par with the lower end of water cooling (certainly as good as or better than 99% of the kits you can buy), but thought-out custom mid to high-end water cooling should win every time. And from there, it's important to note that I'm talking about temps only... water cooling will pretty much unarguably win in silence at almost any level.

    I have test Typhoon and Zalman 9500 already, Idle for Typhoon E6400 3.2Ghz 26Celcius, Zalman 9500 25Celcius, Ultra-120 23Celcius. Full load Typhoon around 49 Celius, Zalman 9500 47 Celius, Ultra-120 32 Celcius
