    DS3 + OCZ Golds?

    I just purchased:

    E6400
    DS3
    2GB OCZ Gold GK

The system will not post with the GK's. No beeps, nothing. I stick in my el cheapo Corsair stick, and bam, post.

    After posting I have tried:

Raising vdimm from 2.0 to 2.2
Manual setting times to SPD values

Trying to figure out if these sticks are DOA or just not compatible with the board, or just something I am missing.

    Any ideas appreciated.

Well, I switched out to the Platinum's and they are up and running.

FYI, unless those sticks were just DOA, the OCZ Gold 2G kit is NOT compatible with the DS3.

Yeah, I tried with BIOS that shipped, which was F2. I also tried with F3 and F4C. No luck with any of them.

As soon as you enter the BIOS, enter Ctr+F1. Those options should then be in that section.

most OCZ isn't capable with the DS3 as most OCZ are high on voltage unless you buy a cheapo stick and update your bios to F4C(this version is fixed for high voltage ram) then flash your bios. which is a good idea if you want . i'm probably getting the Mushkin DDR2 800 though.i've heard from people that they actually WORK. lol

On the overclockers website it says that the ram i bought use 1.9 volts so it will probably not work since the mobo is 1.8 volts right ?

it should work since 1.9 is closer to 1.8 BUT i don't garentee it though. i picked out 1.9V ram too so if yours 1.9V works mine should too - so let me in too okay? thx .

The voltage didn't seem to be the issue in this case. I had some cheap sticks sitting around, so I was able to POST, raise vdimm, and it still didn't work.

rare. are you serious? those platium EL have a 2.1V and the DS3 only has 1.8V -- don't say you have an F4C bios with the DS3 when it shipped in lol..

Yup dead serious. Posted on 1st try with 1 stick. I changed voltage and put in the 2nd stick.

This was without any bios update. Maybe I was just lucky.

The isssue seems to lie in the boards not reeding the SPD tables quite right and trying to boot at the top speed with cas3.
Now this is no fault of the ram,if you are having issue we do suggest a boot with 1 module, change the speed, cas latency and voltage reboot, switch off and add the second dimm.

To say the ram is not compatible is not correct, saying the bios has issues would be closer to the truth
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

I've got a similar problem with my MSI P965 Neo and some OCZ 2GB DDR2 PC2-5400 Gold GX XTC (OCZ26672048ELGEGXT-K). The screen just stays black when I attempt to turn on the PC with the OCZ RAM.

I bought a cheap 512MB Samsung stick of RAM and it boots. Here are the steps I have taken: Using the cheap Samsung RAM, I have entered the bios and tried to raise the Vdimm from 1.85V (default) to 1.9V to 2.0V to 2.1V to 2.2V, none would post with the OCZ RAM. Then I tried to manually set the SPD to 4-4-4-12, but it will still not post. I have tried to install only 1 stick, but it will not post in any of the 4 slots.

OCZ Tech Support was very helpful and told me a quick RMA would fix everything.
