I may have killed my P5W DH the other day when I was using dry ice. Real shame because it was a nice board.

965 boards are no good for benching Pi. I'm going back to 975X. But I'm not sure if I will get another P5W DH.
    noo your'e kidding me.......you killed the p5w??

just be sure about that, i had several times that i thought he was dead, but after a wile it was running again.
let it dry, clear cmos for half a day and run it again.

I haven't thrown the board in the garbage. Yes, I will let it dry out for the rest of the week. A few years ago, I had a board that appeared dead after a sub-zero session. But it came back to life.

This is the xtreme overclocking section. If you're not into benching, stick to the Intel section.
Who did say to you that I'm not benching?

If you look around, not many people in this section run Prime. People are testing the absolute limits of their CPU's.
It was just a question, if you do not want to answear, Do not do.

I have not tested with dual-Prime in quite some time. I seem to recall the CPU passed dual-Prime at 3.8GHz with air-cooling. I'm not using the 6600 for 24/7 stability. I want to see how high it will clock. It is strictly for benching. I do a lot of Prime testing with Kentsfield because that will likely go into my daily system.

    Thanks for the answear.

And who are you to lecture me about stability?
Am I lecturing you? Did I say something?

I'm just a user that want answears, you have the right not to answear if you want.

Your signature has a link to a CPU-Z Validation screen. To me, that says nothing about stability. That's simply a suicide screenshot.
Did I say that sign shows any level of instability? Suicide screenshot? It is better you rethink your comments. Flamming people is not going to take anywhere.

Prime is not fool-proof, you know. Numerous cases of people passing Prime and still having problems with games. .
We may say operational system, components, settings and other things could make games unstable or simple not work, that is not about stability.

When you test and overclock a lot like I do, you can generally tell what's going to be stable for daily use
    Correct I agree with you.

By the way this your thread you have all the right to say anything, if you think I said something that you did not like. I just have to say sorry for all that have been said.

    Anyway thanks for your feedback.

I found 0504 Bios is not stable. So 0502 is the best bios.

Extreme benchmarking is just a hobby for most people, many of whom have more than one computer. Never assume that people are going to use just one machine for everything under the sun.

This forum has always been about pushing a system to the absolute limits, hence the name "XtremeSystems". It's only in the past year or so that newer members have tried to shift the focus.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions about Prime stability. But the xtreme overclocking section is not the place to do it. This forum is what it is today because of benchmarking. All the world's top overclockers post here. If you want to see the latest records, you come to this forum and this section. Some people don't care about benchmarking, which is fine. But they shouldn't post in this section.

Yes, the board is warrantied. But a replacement would probably not be as good as this board which overclocks better than any other P5W DH.

I've lost other boards that had no warranty. I just throw them in the garbage. It sucks when hardware dies, but I just shrug it off. No point in getting upset. This is an expensive hobby. You have to learn to deal with adversity.

There's a chance the board is still alive. I discovered my PSU was dying. I've had it for two and a half years. I've ordered a Zippy, but won't get it for a few days. I'll check the board then.

Yes, I will be sure to let you know. Unfortunately I have only one other 24-pin PSU and it's the one in my daily system. I could have driven to the local electronics store to get a cheap PSU, but I'd rather wait for the good one to be delivered. I will be busy at work, so waiting a few days is no big deal.

Is the P5B that much slower than the P5W?
I had plans for a benching session with my X6800 on this board on LN2, but this kinda makes me wanna skip it.. i figured that 490*11 would be fast as hell, even in SuperPi, but i might be wrong...
Anyways, i have no proof or idea if i can even get to 490 on an 11 multi, but i guess everything must be tried.

    Great OC'ing there sierra

    Thanks everyone.

965 boards seem fine in SuperPi 1M. But they are really slow in 32M. From what I've read, 3D performance seem to be on a par with 975X boards. The big advantage of the 965 chipset is that you can hit high FSB without mods.

It is the same board, the only difference is the wifi module, wich of course is the first thing to be removed when starting to play with this mobo..

I need a clock genarator program that works with P5b Deluxe in order to increase the FSB from Windows. Does anyone knows something about? I tried with clockgen and setfsb but they don't work.
