    Mcp350 vs. DDC+ my results

    For the testing I used 10Qt/9.5L water container. I recorded time of each pump that it took to empty that container. The power supply is very old that used and 12v line is below rated 12v. Also test of Shultz Hydor L35 pump but that pump might be defective

    Regular/ plain without any mods
    MCP350=85s
    DDC+ ==70s
    Hydor L35=45s

    Test top with 1/2id inlet mod
    MCP350=54s
    DDC+ ==43s
    Hydor L35=45s

    Alphacool Acrylic Top with 1/2id barbs even though top is 3/8id
    MCP350=57s
    DDC+ ==50s
    Hydor L35=45s

    Another top with 1/2id inelt and outlet
    MCP350=50s
    DDC+ ==40s
    Hydor L35=45s

    Storm +BIP2+DDC+= 124s

    MCP355+Modded DDC++storm+bip2=90s

    this is a emptying speed test, not a pressure test... you should do a head test :P

    we really dont want to be negative and figure out how long it takes to empty a loop...

    If nothing else, it suggests that the Alphacool top may not be all that it's cracked up to be and that you may be better off with the standard 1/2" top inlet mod. Really depends on how each affects the pump's head pressure output, though. Either way, by doing the mod yourself, you save like $30

    We always knew that a custom modded top was better than the alphacool top - because after all this time those morons still havent learned that you can do channells bigger than 1/8 ID in plexiglass.

    Good job! I always like to see test results.

    It would be nice to see the same test but with some restriction. And a max head test would also be nice! Btw. how many times did you do each test?

    @ creidiki: It's easy to modify the alphacool top's channels to get a decent ID. But since most people buy this top because they don't want to mod the original top this makes the top kinda useless! You could argue that alphacools top looks better than a modified original top but it's still a lot of money for looks, especially when you could get a radiical top with big ID instead. I wish I knew of radiicals delrin tops before I got my alphacool tops...

    A top with larger channel ID wouldn't cost more to produce so it's just plain stupid of alphacool to use small channels!

    Well, it still performs a lot better than the standard top.

    Maybe we can bug petra to get us some radiical tops from down under?

    Well, the Alphacool top has another improvement over the original: It makes the pumpe more silent (as it's heavier and has more material covering the top of the pump).

    Btw., the dual top has a bigger outlet... roughly 9mm (~ID of a 1/2" barb)

    Well, I may be able to do that... but I'm also kinda curious as to how much it would cost to just have some tops made locally as our warehouse is literally surrounded by machine shops. Though, that would only work if I could manage to make some CAD files for the tops but I know quite a few people who could help me out there. *shrug*

    I'll see what I can do but I can't make any promises right now

    BTW, you wouldn't happen to know of anyone who would be in the market for 23 Silverprop CPU blocks, would you?

    Lol!

    And hey, yeah, if you can get it machined im sure there's a few here who'll be happy to replace their tops, even if you dont keep any in stock. Let us know if you have any news

    Speeking of alphacool's plexi top, can't u suggest your connections there to consider building one with wider channels...?

    Guess what I did They said that they can't machine it with much bigger channels... I do have one of their actual tops here and now after "finishing" the dual top so far, that might be the next best thing to do now They wouldn't want to have something "bad" on purpose.
