    Is this a woodcrest?

So a friend of mine brings this chip wondering what it is exactly as the pin1 and the pinpads seem to be in the formation of lga771. What do you guys think?

Probably is, I counted the pins and it is indeed 771 pins on the cpu. Is the cpu a working sample or just a mechanical sample?

We are unable to test them at the moment as the system we have is needing some PSU's that arn't in production yet.

I dont think that is a woodcrest as I have the same exact thing. I never could get it to work so yanked the IHS off and found that the core was that of a single core 90nm.

Hmm now that I look at it a bit closer, its not the same as mine, that infact is not a 775 but a 771. Its is exactly the same as my chip in the center, but the pins are layed out differently.

Woodcrest will use 1333FSB for the entire product line, but it is not starting from 3GHz, the slowest version is... 1.6GHz if I remembered correctly
    CPU: Very Fast!
    Memory: Very Big!
    Motherboard: Very Luxurious!

Not the entire product line I believe, some will be 1066FSB, maybe even a few 800's for the lower speed parts.

Yep very true, just didn't want people getting confused as the parts marked as LV's are not Woodcrests
