All the ATI/Sapphire boards have ODC, most of the ATI chipset DFI boards have ODC, Abit have just added it to a SLI32 board also so i can't see what your issue is with 406 being a bad bios.

ODC does have its uses as i just helped all the RS482 infinity users get the 150 4/3 ratio where the 3/2 or 133 ratio is not working, they just need to set 6/5 and ODC enabled and they have the magic 150 everyone on a low multi cpu loves.

Its just another tweak that when used correctly will help end users to get the speed we need, regarding software all that needs to happen is ODC detection needs to be built in that compensates for the option.

Im sure the guys at X-86 etc can work this into CPU-Z etc real easy.

    Tony,

I'm not saying it's a bad BIOS, not at all I just have "a-bit-of-a-problem" with the fact that it's not detectable by any software. So, unless you or Oscar Wu gives Franck a shout to update CPU-Z/Clockgen ASAP it has a potential to make a lot of confusion for many people out there. The other problem is that CPU-Z in not the only soft we use - Everest does not detect it, same for Sandra... On top of that, it just messes with everything most of us have learned so far about dividers.

It would be awesome If BIOS could be modded in a way so that If user ENABLES ODC, available ratios shown in BIOS change automatically, If you know what I mean.

while we're talking about cpu-z, they also need to disable the cpu/4 ratio

Honestly what I want is in the memory timings to show if it is T1 or T2

1.33 does in fact show it, I dont think that theyll release another version to show this newer feature in anytime soon, beings as 1.33 is relatively new, I personally think this option is garbage, no offence to anyone related to its creation or anything like thta, im sure ppl with even multi's love it, I have a 170 and a 165 and 3800 but I always seem to use the 9 multi on all of them, so its no good for me, Ill not flash it..

You are missing the point, this option does nothing when it is disabled, absolutely nothing, everything runs exactly as it has for the last year. It only changes the divider when you enable it, it has just been added as another tweak.

Bachus, just close this thread....obviously it was a bad idea, we only wanted to explain to everyone what the option does, and its turned into crap

I don't see what the big deal is all about. You guys explained what ODC does perfectly and people are complaining about MORE flexibility with RAM dividers? gfg people, i don't see why you people are even overclocking in the first place if you can't appreciate a feature like this.

    Wowwee...

@ seferio, man that is what it is all about; is features that are in AMD cpu for use in any case that it is available for and can be beneficial to those in need. Good read man.

What I want to know is: Does this mean all of the 300mhz+ (with the exception of ozzy) cronus benchmarks are all fubared and in actuality they are under 300 mhz with this option enabled? If this is true, many people have been mis-informed because CPU-Z would display the wrong frequency? Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Nice information in this thread BTW.

    Certainly not.
The only bios that has this option available is the 406BT that Tony modified. So using any other bios from DFI, this option cannot be enabled. You would have to question the original poster, of a result shown to be using the 406BT bios, as to the state of the ODC setting in bios.

or ask for a bandwidth shot for definite proof, cause it's easy for some people to say that it's disabled

I think, results that seem questionable are only in OPB's latest thread - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=95761. It does not mean that Kevin (OPB) does not have a kit capable of DDR600 or did it intentionally... It looks like results in that thread are "flawed" as (1) BIOS 406 was used, (2) in combination with x9 and x11 multipliers, (3) ODC was ENABLED and (4) SPi32M times are very weak for the clocks (even considering many Windows open during runs).

gah. i know 3oh6 is a member here, so i'll say it here.

    2 things really:
    1. it's not dfi's bios. it's tony's modded bios, so it's not really dfi's 'scam'.. and i do believe 'scam' is a bit strong of a word to use. if programs correctly detected ram speed for once, the story would be much different
    2. as was said in this very thread, there are other boards that support this option

QFT exactly, once the memory monitoring programs are updated this will be a non issue people should really take time to absorb the information provided before posting their "news"

Very interesting ! The ODC option is mentionned in AMD's documentations, but I had no idea about its purpose. I also did not know about the minium 5x memory divider. I'll fix all of this.

Just to be sure I understood well : the ODC changes the memory multiplier as long as the memory divider is odd, is it correct ? (whatever the memory ratio is ?)

    Thanks for the info

Edit : I added ODC correction in this version :

your right, i didn't know it wasn't available in the original BIOS and just Tony's, i haven't had the original on a machine yet...thanx for the correction.

now...for the whole word 'scam'. i made no mention of this being a DFI scam, but a scam that someone will pull and trust me, it will happen soon enough. my little post makes no mention of DFI in the last section that deals with 'the scam'. that section was the reason behind the whole post. the 'scam' would be someone looking to fudge off higher clocking memory then they have, that is what i was informing the readers of that forum about, thats it, thats all. why is everyone all over DFI for this? as others have mentioned, DFI isn't the only one with this option? and Tony making it available is nothing but a good thing for anyone interested in that area of the BIOS. news sights should not be reporting news from inaccurate forum posts like mine...tsk tsk.

looks like CPU-Z has it sorted to read the proper frequency but that doesn't mean someone still can't fake memory results by using an older version. so keep your eyes open when buying memory and ask for CPU-Z 1.33.1+ screenshots and bandwidth numbers that scale with the frequency.

now, back to the regularily scheduled programming around here that has us all ohhing and ahhhing over memory clocks.

If you look closely, there already is software that shows when it's being used

EDIT: didn't even see that a new version of CPU-Z was posted....anyway, now there's two!

Bravo CPUz !!! That was fast

    Thank you very much

That is correct, if the memory divider calculates to an odd number, enabling ODC will round it to the next higher even number. So that could be 1:1 at 5,7,9, etc CPU multi or any combination of Memclock values and CPU multi's that result in an odd Divisor.

Again...thanks for finding this and the lightning implementation
