ATI beta driver for Oblivion! HDR + AA and Crossfire Enabled.

    The "chuck" patch:

    1. Permit High Dynamic Lighting (HDR) concurrently with Anti-Aliasing (AA)
    2. AFR mode for CrossFire (2 GPU’s)

Chuck Patch also supports AFR Crossfire mode giving gains up to 80%

    http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...estionID=21960

    Pretty cool =)

Topic Title Edited to get the word out alittle faster... ATI doing HDR and AA in the toughest game of the year

I just switched out my 7900 GTX and gave this a shot, and I'll be damned if this didn't bring the biggest smile to my face.

not only is this running HDR and AA... it seems like it's taken almost no performance hit.
the game for me is completly playable outdoors, at 1440 x 900, AA 2X, AF at 4X, Vsync On... and HDR

Nice to see atleast one of the Major Companies can pull this off

Looks great Kunaak. The AA really seems to help a lot.

    So much for bethesda's impossible-to-do-hdr+AA-on-todays-videocards

Good job ATI though. Keeping up with demand is never a bad thing.

On Oblivion which is massively graphically demanding, to do HDR + AA with almost no performance hit? I'm a little skeptical, unless Ati pulled out some driver magic.

    But still it's pretty sweet.

    NICE PULL-OFF!

This definitely makes ATI's X1900 series and Cross-Fire even more attractive solutions...!

dude. I didnt just take that screen shot in 2 seconds then exit the game.
I played it for a good 20 minutes like this.

this screen shot is one of about 20 so far.

all with AA, all with HDR, all at above 30 FPS, even in the grassy areas.
no setting at low. my ego wont let me play a game at low.

Got any further info? Source? If this driver update also provides +30% FPS, that's one helluva patch.

Kunnak, could you post a screenshot with a lot of grass to see what FPS you get?
BTW, are you running Oblivion with 1x or 2x x1900s? And is it a XT or XTX? What clock speeds?

    heres the pic.

    stats ran.

Single X1900XT with XTX Bios, running game speed of 690/800.

    1680 x 1050, 2x AA, 16 AF, Mip maps at quality.
Catalyst AI on.no temporal AA or anything like that.
    HDR on.

I went to the gold coast cause I wanted to stress the card as much as possible. for me, the gold grass of the gold coast is by far the most stressful area of the game, cause it's consistantly tough.
so thats where I wanted to go.
Average frame rate was 22-24 frames per second there.

dipped as low as 18 sometimes.
tried to wait around for sunny weather, but it would only rain no matter how long I waited, so I settled for this.

Its funny considering that this is something bethseda should have done and not ATI. But ATI likes to impress I guess.

why should Bethesda have done this?
Yeah they made the game but they said they couldnt do it due to the way they did HDR, seeing ATI eventualy managed todo it means it is possible.
maybe to Bethesda it wasnt possible cause ATI didnt fully wana cooperate with them or whatever.
