V2000 Phase install for King Kenny

Right, well there's been a few delays with the control unit for this one, and even now I've had some more problems with it but I have another one on the way and should be here tomorrow.

Johann is helping me with a replacement froster Xe until I sort mine out, and it's his black 2 row condensor in there, doing a great job and looking VERY pretty

However the installation and gassing is all done, so I can at least show you guys what it all looks like, and how it's performing.

This used to be a mach1 system. The only thing left really is the compressor. Otherwise it's got a new black condensor and coil mod, New chilly1 evaporator and new suction line, and the control unit is a 'Golden Froster' Xe version with LCD Display. That's mounted on a 2.5mm alu plate cut and fitted to the base of the Lian Li to make sure it's got the strength to support it.

It's just fitted with 'seal string' at the moment until I figure out a better 'pretty' mount for the new display. I just wanted to try to avoid more holes. We'll see.

The power plugs installed. the secondary one is for the PC's PSU. The controller operates a 'kill' for the PSU as a safety, so you use a power cable from there. I supplied one of those as well.

One very frosty 150w load tester, it's on btw



And that's the temps right now, after about an hour on the load tester, the evap and the return temps. That's on high fans, will retest tomorrow when the control unit is here and I can adjust the speed.

I used a blend again this time, and it's even better than last time. I'ts a R290/404/402a blend so that lower fans are ok for 'normal' use, and high fans for very cold benching.

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with most of it, but it's mainly the display to look at for mounting. I'm not really really happy with the plugs inside with the tape, but it's all secure and not too messy for wiring.

So that's about it til tomorrow, and I get another control unit to put on and it's finally all done

I gave up after about an hour and a half on the load tester, about -44.3 or so is where it finally got down to.

I just took it off the tester and after about 10 min at no load I'm at about -55 evap and -49 return, so a fairly heavy charge but not returning liquid even at no load so I'm happy with that.

Not as cold as pure 402a for no load, but loaded it's very close to what I expect with it, so a reasonable blend I think.

I tried to use the UEI for both temps, but it's a bit quirky. using only one probe it's the same reading as the Fluke, but with both it reads about -31c on the evap, so I'll have to look at what's up with it, and whether to RMA it after all.

My Tenmars thermo does that too with some probes. In my curent cascadeproject I cant masure HX in and out the same time, but both probes work nicely with the evap temp probe and by them selves

The mount of the control box isn't permanent at the moment so it's a possibility really. I just wasn't sure about space issues, and the cover still works well and is removable. So not sure yet, it may get 'adjusted'

For the Mach2 controller it's definitely not a cheaper option when you have to buy display, controller, and probe along with wiring it. The froster is a very good system, I've just had some bad luck on this one.

If I had to chose between the mach controller and this, it would be Froster every day of the week but if it would have been a mach2, I'd have used the mach controller as it will read lower temps. It's just the Mach1 that's an 'issue' after a mod.

Yeah Hatemi it does seem like some of the readers have strange issues. This UEI works well enough with one or the other probe, but goes crazy with 2. No big deal really.

I've bought a T probe Digitron reader as well, and when I get some T probes for it, I may send the UEI away to get tested.

Well look who popped his head in the Phase section The mach controller isn't really an easy option as you need to get new probes for it, but if you can get the right one and get a control unit then I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it.

Hey Jinu, thought you'd come in and comment you ARE the best at this after all Yeah, that's the slots on the front and back of the 'black box' cover. They're not huge, but being in front of the fans there's a nice airflow through the box. It's an alu box as well so 'sheds' any heat that's in there as well.

I'd seriously thought about replacing the heatsink with a 'shim' and bolting the froster to the box itself for the heatsink but figured it was ok the way I did it.

It's worked out well though, even with full speed fans there's no 'wind rush' from the close proximity of the black box, so I'm happy with that part of it

No probs, glad I could fix that chiller for ya took a little extra time to get it so I was happy, but it should do the job on those new gpu's

I really only put the insulation on the access to hide it to be honest. It's an 'ugly bit' and the insulation blends it in a little. I like the look, I think it was Unseen I saw do it first and thought it looked great

Just thought I'd say that I got a new controller for the Xe froster kit and it's perfect now

I'd like to thank Johann for supplying it on short notice he's the best UK guy for phase parts for sure

I'd like to also thank Ssilencer and Golden Eagle for all the help and support with the Frosters, you guys are amazing

I'll have to get some pics of it running, I just want to resecure the thermal probe as it's a little slow and I think it's not getting great contact, then I'll get some pics of the display too cos it's pretty
