New OCZ PC-4000 EL DDR Platinum XTC 2GB ic's?

Anyone know what chips in these?:

With those timings, could be UCCC or Infineon.

why? uccc is almost always 3-4-3 or 3-4-4, while infineon, which they already have a line of, is 3-3-2. i'm guessing micron for now, but we'll see.

Maybe, since crucial pulled back on the balistix, maybe micron has made supply available agin of the new rev like in those team sticks. then again who knows, might try a set for the heck of it. Can you see the ic's through those perfiorated spreaders they use now?

Here is my guess what is happening:

the "old" EB Platinum came PC4000 3-3-2-8 specified and had Infineon CE-6, as did Mushkin Redline and G.Skill ZX. As we know, Mushkin and G.Skill ran into problems with these sticks with game stability and generally degrading performance as newer chips came in. OCZ didn't deliver bad sticks but they had availability problems. So obviously Infineon couldn't deliver enough good enough chips.

It seems to me that OCZ just relaxed the timings a little so that the CE-6 they get can meet the new spec and "re-release" the EB Platinum kit with new spec and new heatspreader.

Independently of whether the theory is correct, it certainly rubs me the wrong way how they advertise the new kit as having sensationally low timings when their own previous kit had better timings. Not that 3-3-3 versus 3-3-2 matter but still.

I would hope they were Micron -5B F or other revision chips, but the reality of the matter is that Micron simply isn't producing enough of these chips at the moment to supply even Teamgroup let alone OCZ as well.

Guys, we have to keep testing and releasing new products.

    Also....
We have to keep moving forward and providing good IC's for our competitors to copy....LOL
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?
    Have a look over here

So i guess that means that this is a new IC and not CE-6's with looser timings as uOpt suggested?

Can't wait to see a review on their overclockability - you got a pair you could show us Tony?

hehehe, though if my hunch is correct, you've been beaten to the punch ever so slightly
i'll be assuming that the initial batches of these sticks will also be blank ic's?

So, Tony, are you saying these are not Infineon?

from what he said, there's no way to know. it could be infineon. not necessarily CE-6, but it could be infineon

It's Infineon or Micron. I just don't see how it could be Micron, unless the reason for Team's lack of supply is because OCZ snapped em all up.

I see this memory is under the extended voltage warranty? Is this gonna be the type of ram that requires 3.2v-3.6v DRAM Voltage to get the most outta them? Or will it see it's best performance in the 3.0v range?
