Compare Sampsa's core shot to the 256MB one at Beyond3d

    http://www.beyond3d.com/misc/chipcom...hp?ImageId=168

Made in Taiwan not South Korea .. Listed as a 7800U as well, so there is a 7800U

ok so sampsa can run 625mhz with stock cooling so then this card can make the new record in 3dmark 2005 with stock cooling because its only 50mhz behind the record holding cards and the memory is far ahead so this card is very amazing to be able to beat the world record super cooled gtx sli setup with stock cooling. the only trick is to run them on the right cpu i belive

Here are some pics. These are gaming stable benches. (Will run for hours and hours.) I have not had the time to push it higher. Damn X-FI card has been fighting me. My current best is 14382. For some reason this run was lower.

I got a XFX 7800GTX512 this morning to test for NordicHardware.com. I'm really impressed by the card on every level.

Take a look at our quick preview: http://www.nordichardware.com/Reviews/?skrivelse=450

Here are some pictures of the boards. Note the different GPUs. One has a strange gray coating. Also mine do not say 7800-U.

Also I added in a picture of the system just because.

I would consider a 550 as min watt for these cards. (Maybe a PC Power 510 or the mentioned 520 OCZ but you will not have much headroom.) These cards draw tons of power. The review system I am building was shutting off with a 480 NEO that ran 2 OC'd 256MB cards fine. (FX57 OC'd to 3Ghz and 2GB of RAM, Raid Raptors and all the normal stuff.) I just installed an Enermax 620 Liberty.....I am burning in but so far no issues. (The cards are not shipped maxed out BTW. The mem looks to be real good.) Next will be watercooling.

(BTW For those with the DFI SLI-DR be in SLI be ready for one card to run much hotter than the other and the fan gets loud. Of course with watercooling it will not matter.)

Power consumption on the core might not have gone up much but you are talking about twice the ram run much faster....they like the juice.

as I said before, you'll be fine with a good quality 500-550W PSU, at maximum load for the entire system, they're still @ 412W with Two 512mb 7800GTX's. If you do the comparison between a single and two video cards, they're consuming 82W per card @ load. I would probaly wait for a more through consumption review, but that shoulda t least give you an idea that you don't need a 550W as a minnimum.

412W with a stock FX55, Stock cards, One GB of ram stock, One HD and integrated audio. Add a couple HD's, 2GB ram, OC everything. You are on the edge. You might get away with it. I know a Antec NEO 480 will not run it. I tried more than one. A NEO will run a SLI 256MB OC'd, FX57 @ 3GHz,2GB of ram @ 500MHZ, 2 raptors and 1 seagate. I added the 512MB cards stock and the system was very unstable. (It did run a single 512MB card fine.) I went to a 620 Enermax Liberty. (We use modular supplies for looks as the case is acrylic.)

These cards draw 22A from the 12V line per card so if your PSU is rated for that you should be fine. All I am saying is that if you have the $$$ for two 512MB cards speed the little extra and buy a 550+ Watt PSU to give your self a little headroom.
