G.SKILL PC3200 2GB HS Testreport and some OC work

Well guys, you might know G.skill launched a new 2GB (2x1GB) set with Samsung IC and offcourse with Brainpower PCB.

    The specs:

    ***F1-3200USU2-2GB HS*** NEW

    Photo: click
    Chip: SAMSUNG IC
    Code: HS
    PCB: B6U808 v1.1
    Flavor: 2x 1GB
    Rated speed 1: DDR400 2.5-3-3-6 2.5 ~ 2.7v
    Rated speed 2: n/a
    Command Rate: 1T
    Heatspreader?: Yes
    Overall overclock potential: 2
    Market segment: Powerusers

Recommended Platform:: AMD S-A/S754/S939/S940 INTEL S478/S755
Recommended Mainboard AMD: DFI LP NF4 series, MSI K8N Neo4 series, EpoX EP-9NPA series, Abit Fatal1ty series

    Test system

    - Athlon 64 3000+ venice
    - DFI lanparty nF4 SLI-D (Bios 623-3)
    - Tagan 480Watt-U22

    Some pics of the product

As you can see PC3200 DDR400Mhz rated and offcourse 1T command rate.
This memory is not ment for extreme overclocking, better modules will come!

    Stock action

    SuperPI 32M loop

    Everest benchmarks

    Sandra benchmarks

Some little OC work => 220Mhz

    SuperPI 32M loop

    Memtest loop

Some little OC work => 240Mhz

    SuperPI 32M loop

    Sandra benchmarks

Some more OC work => 250Mhz

    Memtest86++ test 8

    Sandra benchmarks

As you can see only with 2.5-3-3-6 1T. soon some more pushes with 3-3-3-X and 2.5-4-4-X

This memory looks very good for Socket-A users and value users who want cheap 2GB and run them in 1T.

This memory has some good points compare to a 4x512MB setup.

    - 1T commandrate
    - cheaper then 4x 512MB
    - upgrade possibility to future 4GB

So is Gskill saying all these kits will do 2.5-3-3- at ddr500 or just a small % of the yield?
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

Nice stuff. Its Samsung but it can't be UCCC. Samsung does list 1gig TCCC. Please confirm if its same IC that these sticks have listed.

EDIT: Whoops. Guess it could be UCCC since thats what OCZ is using on their PC4000 1gig sticks.

since there's no spi 32m, i must say i doubt even these 'do' 2.5-3-3@250.

Reviewers should be given money by the manufacturers to go and buy the retail kits so these questions would not come up.

they're probably showing the best pair they have
I would like to see how many of us will get 250 2,5-3-3 or even 240 2,5-3-3 stable (not only PI32M).

Guys don't jump to conclusions ! lol

My pair of OCZ DDR500 Gold did 250mhz 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.8v, If you notice he is using 2.9v to acheive the OC so I don't doubt his post. But I do doubt the average pair can do it

IMO , when i put a lot of money to buy these 2GBs kit , i wanna make sure that at least these Mem can do 250Mhz , whatever timings .
So i like the way that OCZ and Mushkin rated PC4000 , not PC3200 .
With PC3200 , all oc results are gamble I guess we will see 2GBs Gskill PC4000 soon

About the manufactor or distrubutor review , i dun believe much , cause i have seen many times they always choose the best sticks and make the review , not random better waiting for some results more

    Good attemp buddy,
    Nice DDR500 2.5-3-3-6.
I also have some OC actions, but just not really wanna post them yet.
    UCCC seems kinda promise.

here we go again, is this the best gskill have? Yields? ..

DDR 500 2.5-3-3-6 1T is not 32M stable yet It is 1M/4M stable but at long period I get freezes in windows, and is 250MHz that special? Take a look at the 2GB OC database.

The average UCCC will do 240-250MHz top at 2.5-3-3-6 with voltage 2.8~2.95v. Please don't make too fast conclusions. To be honest I don't even know if this is handpicked...

And also I think that we are doing our best to keep the Overclock realistic, so that marketsamples will hit close to it. My other 1GB GH with Winbond BH-UTT testreport was tests at 260Mhz 2225 top @3.6v, realistic result..

I don't see G.Skill inflating their marks really! Well OPB's results are always inflated , but he is oc gosu and have the magic fairy dust to sprinkle on his pc.

I got GH UTT and it did 260 at 3.6-3.7v on dfi 2-2-2-6.

UCCC seems to be decent chips.
    it's never fast enough!

Thanks kakaroto for clearing this up for us and bigtoe. I don't think anyone will risk his reputation here, on XS, with biased results. OCZ I respect, G.Skill also. But I'm a big fan of Corsair. I've been also playing with TwinX2048-3200C2PT and I'm pretty dissapointed with the OC figures... Corsair is using Infineon ICs which do 1T but don't OC as well as OCZ's and G.Skill's 2 GB kits... waiting for a new rev.

My GH does 260 @ 3.4Vdimm torture stable with Venice but needs 3.5Vdimm with X2
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's

The Infineon on my Patriots are doing 265@2.5-3-2-6 1T SuperPi32M stable. Not bad for $200 from Outpost. Check the tail end of the stickied 2GB thread for my screenie.

I don't think anyone is seriously questioning Kakarotos credibility. But I'm pretty sure BigToe has a pretty good idea on the yields and performance on the IC in question. If you want guaranteed PC4000 performance now either buy the Mushkin or OCZ PC4000. Wait if you believe GSkill might have something a little more special on the way.

So when are OCZ and GSkill going to give us DDR600 3-3-3?

you'd be better off with 250MHz 2.5-3-3-6.....don't you think

Bigtoe asked a reasonable question.......if you cannot guarantee DDR500 maybe there should be a warning for potential buyers that the figures may not in fact turn out to be even close to that......you do see a lot of high clocking RAM around here but are they really realistic #s.....and people that post in 2GB databases do so because they get good results.....you won't see too many guys with OCs on there......Kakaroto, what are rough 2.5-3-3-6 1T figures that average joe can expect since you are stating that there is OC potential there......

I think there will be better modules then this. I think mine UCCC is not the best if you compare the results on the OC database.
But the Overclock potential of Gskill 2GB HS with Samsung UCCC is the testreport I wrote. 250Mhz 2.5-3-3-6 1T is still only benchable and not suitable for 24/7 use.
I respect Bigtoe question, because I also know that customers who buy products that have handpicked OC results on forums that they will be very very disappointed.
The purpose of this testreport is to show people who are interest in 2GB RAM and/or Gskill what this RAM can do in overclock, if the results are only achievable with 1/100 modules, would be
Offcourse overclocking depends on the quality of the chip and is not quaranteed, but again close to this or even better.

Kakaroto, if gskill dont guarante for dd500, even at 3-4-4-X, i assume that gskill's, has less OC potential than OCZ or Mushkin what are using the same chips...

That is my opinion, but 2.5-3-3@250mhz is a nice result
