Triple monitor would just cause you to really hate your eyes because those bezels ruin the entire experience (trust me, I've seen it).

1 huge monitor > 3 monitors any day of the week.
I disagree, and I'll tell you why.

One monitor = smaller resolution than three monitors.

Therefore, three monitors = more scenery real estate than one monitor.

Also, about the bezels, they're really not as bad as you think. When you're gaming, and you're focused on what's going on in front of you and around you, you totally forget about the bezels. Trust me on this one, they fade away.

In the past, I have gamed on one-monitor setups, I really used to. I promise. However, now that I've upgraded (YES, UPGRADED!!) to three monitors (two monitor setups are gay), I will not go back to only one monitor. Need I prove my point how glorious and elite three monitors are for gaming (appropriate game for this setup, such as FPS, racing games, flight/combat flight simulators, anything else with a 3D open world)? I will leave you with a few YouTube videos showing just how immersive this perfect setup can be:
