So off-course people were disappointed about the many delays, I don't think anything close to it will happen to the HD 6900 cards.
This damaged Nvidia more than the 59xx series cards ever did. As a long time nvidia user I now think twice before buying anything made by them. I take this deception personally along with the promises that were broken at the time. Mr. Can of ***** *** now has the contents if it all over his face. This is going to take Nvidia a long time to recover at the pace they are going. Nvidia's driver support seems to be slipping while ATI's is improving. One can only hope that Intel buys nvidia and turns the name around and then we might see competition again. Of course ATI could get lazy and let Nvidia catch up much like AMD-core let Intel catch up and pass them.
