as i mentioned before, due to a hardware limitation the screen will flicker when changing memory clock.

Yeah, that's what I've read about the 4770 and the 4870 too when it comes to manually changing the clock. But changing the BIOS to the same lower clocks makes it unstable in at least some situations.

Have you tried to permanently lower the GDDR5 idle clock speed, or do you have any link to someone doing it? I still haven't seen it.
