I am a little shocked that Vista chews up so many resources with background tasks ?? These must be invisible to the user because the task manager shows no other activity while your program is running ..

Is Vista really that much of a burden on CPU over XP ? Does it affect all programs the same way ?

If this is the case - I think it would be good to list which OS (Vista or XP, 32-bit or 64-bit) people ran their tests on, to make it a fair comparison to all ..
