Dave, I'm using 20 pin ATX and I am quite sure a 4pin connector will work just as well as an 8-pin version, although I haven't tried that. The system needs to be able to draw power from every connection, but it can't tell the difference between 20-24 and 4-8 pins attached AFAIK.
