Mine hits 80-84C... air cooled with thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, when running Intel Linpack .. thats only on 1-2 cores the other 2 cores hit 75-78C.

Nothing to worry about as Linpack will push the temps that high.... only suggestion is don't run more then 10-15 loops at a time as running at 80C temps for TO LONG (like weeks or days) will degrade CPU over time.

As for running lower GHZ .... why? .... if 3.6ghz is stable and you have effective cooling = running Linpack for 10 loops (3-6 times) and Orthos Blend (12 hours) and temps are around 60-58-57-58 or 65-62-58-60 (WHEN RUNNING ORTHOS)...... then all is within good performance ..... mine hits those.

So use Linpack as a FAST stability test and make sure all numbers are the same for both sets of numbers . if so you passed, if not then you not pass ... and if you not sure about things POST here a screen shot.

By the way WHAT cooling are you using?

OCZ vendetta 2 cooling, Running p95 large now and temps are 73 73 72 72. Is this normal or would you recomend going to 3.4?
