Have you tried CoreDamade Rammsteiner? That tool heats up the cpu very quickly. I get CPU-Temps around 65°C after two minutes. My coretemps are ~7°C below the cpu temp btw.

Also I think BIOS's are still NOT optimized completely to get the best out of Phenom. For example, Tony's Phenom article over at TTR. 790FX-DQ6 did very nice with HTT, but DFI didnt.
For good ref HT results I used DFI 307 bios other versions did not run stable above 250MHz.

But that's not making a lot of sense since I could hit minimal 290Mhz with a X2 plugged in. But tbh, I didnt do a lot of testing with HTT clocking though. But whether HTT clocking can be fixed by BIOS or not, if we look at DDR1066 mode OCíng it's still very clear BIOS's need some fine tuning.
Hmm my testings clearly showed that the max ref HT is cpu dependant. Of course also bios dependant.
Same with X2's, reached ~392MHz with an BE2400 and ~405MHz with an 4850e on the M3A.

No the current DFI and Sapphire bioses do not have so called AutoXPress settings in the bios.
