The red ICs are of the older Micron chips family, the good ones were referred to as fatbodies, but those are now discontinued.
The black ICs are the chips that are not of special interest for us overclockers because they don't clock extraordinary.
Finally, the green ones are the chips you should look for, because these are very good for overclocking as they scale well with the applied voltage.

I have nothing to add to the above. That is indeed what the colors mean.

About a year ago I changed the layout of my ramlists. The older version had a description at the bottom of the page explaining the colors, but I decided to remove it because it had already been there for such a long time I assumed it was clear to everyone.
