I have concluded that VID is not an intrinsic property of the CPU that is directly coded onto the hardware, but rather is a value that is inferred by software which calculates VID based upon another dependent hardware reading. unclewebb has provided technical details before; he may be the one to provide conclusive proof.

I have seen VIDs of 1.0675, 1.0375, and 0.9xxx (can't remember the exact value, but it was less than 1). Variables which I have noted causing change are booting into Vista vs. XP, booting at default settings after resetting CMOS, and core voltage.

CN's results aside, I am presently not concerned with this discrepancy.
