Has anyone tried a set of the g.skill 1600 ECO C7 rams? I was wondering if they can overclock well since they are BBSE equipped.

So you WERE Able to get another 500 mhz on the CPU after enabling internal PLL overvoltage?
Or you were able to get 4900 mhz WITHOUT enabling it, but just putting the vcore at 1.5v?

Yes, you would 'think' that Auto would enable it but I think "auto" only enables internal PLL *IF* you go past a certain mhz, and then the board decides to turn it on as a preset. What I should have said is that it probably doesn't "check" the CPU itself to see if it can post or not, and enable or disable depending on that.

Yes and yes, I got 500mhz more after enabling internal pll because I too think auto must enable after a preset point but this poor example can't reach that point so for this CPU it must be set manually.

Off to the shops I go .......

It seems that 2700k might have worse overall max multi but better 24/7 clock capability, Eva was saying his does 51x with internal PLL disabled (although his does 5.6ghz too)

Now .... Which to buy next .....

The 2700s should be binned slightly better though the high end remains to be seen like aussie stated. The way the new 2600 batches are I think I would try a 2700 but either one will stomp some serious numbers with good hardware.

    I bought a 2600K and a 2700K today, proceeding with testing now ....

    Edit:

Ok first cpu is a 2600K Malay L142B435 - stable at 5400 1.500v but wont hold 55x at any volts, all other settings are default, what else can help it get further? Or best just sell it as a 54x cpu and try another one?

Next cpu is a 2700K ..... 3122C589 .... but I will try that another day, for now I will fiddle with this 2600K some more. I wish my 3105C Costa Rica didnt just die ....

Guys, I have a 2700K here that I am testing under single stage, I got it running light benchmarks (1mb Pi and 32m wprime) at 5400 with only 1.400v but it ramps up hard after that and wont run at 56x even with 1.6v, is there anything I can do to get more out of this cpu or is it hard-walling even though it clocks well up to near its wall?

    :P

Edit: This cpu seems stable at 5ghz with 1.330v ... pretty amazing if you ask me, the SS must be helping this.

Man.... this is not making me feel any better about the 3135B460 batch 2600k that I picked up at MC this week. Gonna play with it this weekend. Here is to hoping it can hit 5Ghz with 1.45v or less.

What is the highest safe voltage allowed for 24/7 usage?

So far, with the BNIB M4E-Z from MC I was able to reach 5Ghz but on 1.43v. I will try to trim it down a bit before I start benching the open-box M4E-Z I got from NewEgg.

Stock settings [loading optimized defaults from BIOS] I was able to hit 107 Bclk on the above mentioned board... Is that any good?

Well, the CPU is under a Corsair H70 for now; but it is not doing that much since the room where the PC is located is pretty small and has a very powerful steam radiator a few feet away [close valve don't work; been meaning to get a plumber in to cut it off] I'll try for max multi once I order/receive the water block for the motherboard.
I want to make sure I keep this board before I order the parts for the loop.

Swapped in the NewEgg board and so far I've been able to lower the voltage to 1.42. This time around I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro x64 [used x86 before], and I ran Lynx with 3GB+ instead of the 1GB+ I had available with x86 and it is going through the 20 passes like a champ. Looks like this is the one I'll be keeping, since I also might have done a better mount job on the H70 because the highest temp so far is around 6 degrees lower than before.

You should update your realtemp to 3.67.
Why isn't you W7 patched to SP1 for the AVX extentions boost? If it is patched, then you can update LinX manually by getting the Linpack binaries from the Intel website and putting them into the proper linpack folder to overwrite the older exe files (not sure if they need to be renamed or not).

I updated to SP1 earlier today, and I already had the LinX from the 4.5 - 5Ghz club and the GFlops hardly went up.

My bad... I took the OLD 4.5Ghz club files from my downloads. The new ones are jacking the GFlops over 113.

Guys, I have struck a weird one:

I have a borrowed cpu here, from a forum member over here, he got it up to 5700 or so 2C/2T for pi on air cooling, so now Im testing it on single stage but something isnt right. In normal testing I got it passing running 32m pi at 5000mhz down to 1.320v but it locks up at 5100. The only way I got it to run at 5100 is to disable internal PLL override, with it disabled I got it up to 5600 but while its disabled I cant get it to pass 3D at any clocks. What the hell is going on?
