    Official P67A/Z68X-UD7 Owner's Club + Discussion

    From The MOST in Depth Preview/Review P67A-UD7
    Some highlights include the VRM/PMW design (power delivery), and I go very in depth about the advantages and disadvantages of Analogue VS Digital VRM design. BIOS section including brand new BIOS settings including wattage and amperage to the implementation of EFI BIOS in the future. The USB 3.0 sub-system on this board is phenomenal tree type system along with SATA6G connectivity this board can power all of your devices to their fullest extent, and when you have all the SATA and USB ports filled you can enable USB 3.0 Turbo Mode to add speed and bandwidth. I take apart of the cooling on this board and put it to the test to find out how well it transfers and dissipates heat in the motherboard cooling section. I then take a look at both PCI-E busses in the NF200 and PCH P67 section, and analyze the benefits.
    Motherboard With Cooling:

    Motherboard Without Cooling:

    On the P55 you could set the power (wattage) and current (amperage) limits through software but for the UD6 at least this wasn't really necessary as Gig set the current reported to the CPU through hardware mod to somewhere around a fixed ~24A IIRC. This meant even if your OC'd board was pulling over 100A the CPU would still think it was only using 24A and under the TDC therefore not throttle. Also because the current measurement is part of the power measurement the TDP limit would not be tripped either.

    So I guess now with the newer boards you now will have to set these limits to take advantage of TDP and TDC limiting, especially on the unlocked k series CPUs which use turbo bins as the unlocked multiplier.

    TDP = Thermal Design Power
    TDC = Thermal Design Current

    I'm in the UK & things always take a couple weeks longer to get here so was wondering if there was an official launch date (with UK stock) or somewhere in Europe that already has them I could order it from.

    I was looking over the manual today and it did have that error, i was thinking, DIMM 1+2???? and then it says DIMM 1+3 for dual channel. Well it is pre release so that is good at least.

    I am sorry again, what are you talking about? you cannot set wattage or amperage you can only read them off HWmon or DES for P55 boards, what software lets you set those limits???

    I get the second part it these systems are so that you can extend TDP and TDC. Sandybridge has the ability to go above its rated TDP for a small window of time(like 30 seconds), and motherboard manufacturers must have extended this window so that you are able to set upper limits so you can OC further, I wonder what the limits are.

    I can buy the board but cant buy the 2600k? hmm

    Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    Provantage had the UD7 listed for ~$339 which is meh. $390 is way way way too much and will be a major fail like UD9. I really want UD7 though and may still get it.

    Stasio please give us some info on the new gamer series gigabyte is gonna be launching.

    RealTemp 3.60 and ThrottleStop let you adjust the turbo TDP/TDC limits on the Intel processors that are unlocked like the Extreme and K series. Both programs are available here on XS.

    This feature has made a huge difference to the performance of the 920XM and 940XM mobile CPUs. Increasing these limits results in more turbo boost when fully loaded with less turbo throttling. Intel has made some changes to Sandy Bridge but being able to adjust turbo TDP/TDC might become a very useful feature on the new Sandy Bridge K series CPUs.

    I plan to upgrade my Rig to a SB 2600k just need to know what board to get
    I checked with swifittech for my GTZ the i7 adapter plate will work for the SB, I already ordered it from ebay
    Swiftech GTZ-UHD-1156-BP Socket LGA1156 Upgrade kit will work with the SB.

    I plan to watercool and see how far I can go with the 2600k on water. Whats a good board? think I can hit 4.5ghz? 24/7?
