    Mounting SSD on Corsair 800D

The hotswap bay doesn't work with my OCZ Agility SSD (I tried all of them and none working) so I'm just wondering if Corsair does this to prevent customers from purchasing competitor's SSD since I look at the manual and it seems the Corsair SSD works fine but not others. I have heard people complaining about mounting the Intel SSD on this case as well. Besides getting a conversion kit, is there another way of mounting it?
And what would you recommend for a kit in case I wanna mount at the bottom?
    Thanks in advance!

It is probably some other kind of issue as Corsair would be unlikely to do this as it would definitely hurt sales...

Maybe you have bad hot swop connectors?

Not sure exactly how the 800D is configured for the hotswap bays....

Do you have any other 2.5" disks to hand to test with?

Edit: there is always option B

Thanks for the response Biker, that's fast LOL. Anyway as mention above I tried all 4 hotswap bays and none is working even though my HDD work just fine using them so I'm guessing it only work with Corsair SSD. And I know there's nothing wrong with my SSD since I just plug it in directly and it works just fine but it doesn't work with the hotswap. This really sucks if they do that just to get customers buying Corsair SSD and if you wanna use something else then you have to get a kit. By the way, is the kit that expensive?

    Are you running firmware 1.5?

$50 plus shipping is not too bad

    Another version @ the egg

Edit: The Addonics one is much better quality so i'd track one of those down...

    Details here

    Part number: AE4RCS25NSA-A

Definitely compatible with all 2.5 SSD's

I'm still on 1.41 but as I said if I don't use the hotswap and plug it in directly to the SSD connectors then it works so there's nothing wrong with my SSD. I might just look for a cheaper kit.

I wouldn't complain if it works for me.

Its the screws provided that dont fit the ssd. Just get some new screws.
I'm using the screws that come with a cheap kit I bought at Fry's to use with my previous case but the kit just doesn't work with the Corsair 800D so I don't know if it's the screws that....screwed me

How do you mount it at the bottom? Don't you need a kit or something?

Thanks for the suggestion, I might just order on the egg then.

Why is it even in your hotswap bays? I'm presuming it has your OS install on it? In which case, you're unlikely ever to want to unplug it, in which case, why not just tape it to the floor of the case beneath the two non-hotswappable HDD bays at bottom?

Yeh it has OS in it but I still wanna make it looks nice when mounting it. But you're right, I can just tape it in the 3.5" bay at the bottom, it might look a bit ghetto but I guess as long as it works then it shouldn't be matter, or I can just grab the adapter like jmp804 suggests. Thanks for the advice man.

Don't even bother taking up a bay. It's slim enough that you can tape it to the floor and not lose either of the two bays. As for looking ghetto, well, that's the advantage of having that whole section of case masked off from view, firstly by that black plastic shield and secondly by the fact the window doesn't show anything down there

Basically, given that you're never going to be hot-swapping it, it seems (to me) that there's little sense in shelling out for an adapter so you can put it in those bays and take up space.

i didn't mean in the bottom bay
it's in the hot swap bay, just resting on the hot swap tray

or in the same kind of idea soulscollective gave you, you could tape it off the back plenty of space between the panel

I was about to do it till I found this part laying around that I bought awhile ago:
    http://www.frys.com/product/5855663?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG
5 bucks and it looks much better than tape. Just put the SSD right in between and screw 2 holes on the side, slide it in the bay, using a bit force but nothing serious that can cause damage.

Sorry I didn't read that clearly, unfortunately none of the hot swap bay seem to be working for me so I have to mount it at the bottom of the case.

I didn't use an adapter. I just used really thin double sided tape to mount a couple of X25-M drives to the hot swap bays.

I had an issue mounting my SSD in the 800D. The problem ended up being that the caddy with the SSD in it wasn't going in perfectly level, meaning the SSD was actually missing the connectors at the back, where a normal hard disc was heavier and went in flat and worked.

Not sure if it's your issue, but certainly worth checking, as I struggled for hours with this problem. I think it's because there are some springy metal bits on the caddy which push it up.

I just got a $5 kit and mount it at the bottom of the case, make my life much easier than sitting there figure it out what went wrong. I look at the connectors on my SSD and they seem to be fine, I guess it just doesn't line up perfectly with the connectors on the hot swap bay. But well, I'm happy cuz I finally mount it properly and just leave the hot swap bay for storage drives only.
On a side note, thank you to everyone for the reply.
