And yes, I know it looks horrible
Interesting tiborrr. I would imagine if you did a droop mod the board would be worlds better. Testing on the crosshair without LLC sux IMO, I'm not a fan of LLC but its like two totally diff boards with it enabled.

I'll try a Vdroop mod tommorrow before I start benching under LN2. But - measured from PWM bucks, the voltage under load actually increases. Idle 1.42V, load 1.44V. Measured at all bucks (CPU-NB and CPU).

Is this after the caps mod or just in general?

My m4a79_deluxe and M4a79t_deluxe and crosshair III just have voltage bouncing all over the place over .050 swings.

I have swapped between 5 PSU's and all the same.

The Crosshair with LLC on has very little fluctuation maybe .020

Basically if you can keep vcore from "bouncing" the boards would probably be solid as a rock.

If your trying to maxximize your clock you should grab a diff board as well versus the current one your on that needs a huge amount of voltage just to compensate for its droop/poor voltage regulation.....

You will find then that you don't and won't run near as hot nor will you need as much voltage.

I don't downplay anyones results nor have I ever.

Try grabbing one of these fans, lapping your xigamatek with 800 grit wetsand ( higher grit makes it perform worse ) and tape the sides.....It will be alot more effecient. Its a very quiet fan for its CFM. Quite tolerable.

In light load apps it will beat the TRUE 120 lapped with same fan. Haven't tested it versus megahalems in light load yet but megahalems with same fan and lapped seems to be winning in load apps.

Im running water now And Im trying to hold off for the next set of mobos then Ill move to DDR3.........Im really trying to hold off as I want a 5870x2/or 5890x2 (whichever comes out)

I used to tape the sides of the xigmatec and used a push pull config gave it a little tunnel action with no air escaping through the sides....I did not lap it though, I did lap my 965 and lost about 5-7c depending on ambiant...

Might be a good choice to wait on boards however you know how early adoption goes.

I think waiting for the x2 variant in 5K is a wise decision
