I see.. I got lots of experience with the Ultradrives, but I dumped Jmicraps altogether because they don't work on the ICH. Hmm, come to think of it, I got 2x 32GB Patriot Warp V2 MLCs lying around, you reckon it's worth getting a controller?
Perc 5 is cheap and has 512MB cache... not looking for records just decent performance for cheap.

I know you asked Napalm but these new controllers seams to be working very good for the price range (LSi MegaRAID SAS i4 $330).

Hi Napalm. Do you use fsutil to change the behavior set memory usage to increase "paged pool" memory to take advantage of your cache?

Thanks mate, but I can't find that controller anywhere for purchase, neither in stores nor on ebay... Could you link the whole thread? All I can see is the one post

Seriously? Only the 1231 will work with them? Any particular reason why? :O
Again, I'm not talking record-breaking performance here, just on par with Indilinx/Intel drives @ ICH

Thanks Napalm. I was just curious and did know if it would help or hinder. I came across a TechNet article on fsutil commands that would seem to help ssd performance. Apart from the disable8dot3 I haven’t seen them suggested before for sdd so I’m not sure if they would be of any use or not. Anyone tried them?

Sorry Napalm I don’t mean to hijack your thread or detract from your ssd awesomeness. I’m just curious if these tweaks help or not.

My cpu/ram still gimped (only 4.5ghz/820mhz on ram) because my ep45 and I dont like each other. Should be able to shave off at least a second when I clock it up properly.

its not about work.. they work with 5805 too but its the way the controller controls the ssds.. the efficiency of the controller..

an ex. @ ccleaner 1231/512mb constantly 30-40 seconds faster than 5805/512mb

and thats 800mhz vs dualcore 1200mhz

what controller would you guys like me to recommend to you ??

I'd still like to see an apples-to-apples of the 1231 vs the 1680 with the same SSDs.

    great we got it going..

if more of you would do this.. youd find out that the acard setups are no faster than your flash ssd setups

why? the acard controller is well firstly bound to the same sata rules and its no faster/anymore efficient than your flash ssd controller

im putting my neck on the guillotine for your ssd setups

Downloaded the batch too, gonna try it out later if I have the time.. Compustocx Indilinx-based drive just came in. Just a single drive for now, but that's what most people care about really (and to see how much better a multi-SSD solution scales in the real world).

As for the raidcard, nvm Napalm. You are obviously the wrong person to ask for "decent performance"

    - install all the apps within the folder.. skip on the ones you have already installed

    - edit/replace directory with your C:\ directory or leave as is if no different

    - save as 40-app.bat

    - reboot pc

    - run 40-app.bat

    - time the loadup best you can

note: install ccleaner last and disable/delete* startup programs (you have just installed) @ Tools > Startup
    ex: avgnt.exe

    * dont disable/delete your video/sound/neccesary startup programs

this aint your fav one click benchmark gotta put a bit of time and effort into but itll give you a better/real indication where your system/storage is @.. no benchmark can do real apps

then move on up by adding more apps.. add more apps from your windows system folder.. as many as you want.. as many your system can chew

    ^^^

One thing to add, when you install all of those make sure to launch each one of them at least twice individually after install because a lot of them will ask things (like browsers asking you to make it your default and openoffice template wizards) and when they ask things the whole process stops until you tell the program whatever it is it wants to know.

Napalm: how long do those take you?

The 40-app-loadup is a good idea.
Is it possible to automate the installs of many apps?

    I see the first realworld-benchmark

if im gonna post my result.. no one else will contribute/get involved

this is for/about you guys.. forget napalm

i would like a bunch of you to bench this on your systems

onehertz since youve already done it.. go thru your windows system folder and add: calc.exe disk defrag control panel etc.. you can easily add 50 apps from there.. just add enough for a 53-app loadup

get my drift ? im pretty sure you can loadup 53 programs in 18 seconds

see where im going with this guys ? im sure a bunch of you can do this

take vids of your loadup and well you guys know where/whom to respond to

we can keep the 40app loadup as a initial bench.. get everyone comfortable/going..

you guys up for it ? im trying to get you guys to see for yourselves that you dont need 24x ssds in order to loadup 53 progs in 18sec/have a very fast system/feel good about your system.. you can do the same @ 2x/4x a lot less than 24x

It is 100% CPU limited for me. 100%. Is it like that for you as well? I clock it down to 3ghz and it takes like 20 seconds versus 12.

My windows is Nlited. I don't keep anything but calculator and notepad. Don't need other stuff.

during the loadup it should be 100% i never seen the cpu load only after loadup and by that time it fluctuates in the lower range

but the app loadup is not 100% cpu limited.. what limits my system is the jmicrons

add other apps: cpuz coretemp attobench etc
