DFI RMA Service ? 88 error

Hi ! My mb (LANPARTY UT X58-T3eH8) seems to be dead . I simply get 88 code problem on my motherboard when I power it on . It appears immediate : Power On -> Prompt Stopped at 88 (as described in user's manual) . No idea what had happend , no signs before noticed , computer was working fine . WHAT I have noticed - fan on my graphic card (gtx280) is not spinning - looks like no power supplied to it. (other fans in case are spinning fine) But I tried to power on when there was not graphic card installed and the same error code appeared (88) - I have no idea if there should be the same error code when graphic card is not detected/installed in PCI ? Also have tried to remove RAM memory and the same error code... Moreover Clear CMOS , battery removed for more than 3 hours , Secondary RTC Reset didn't help either.

Today I had chance to check my PSU and GPU on other computer and they are working fine , so it looks that it's not PSU or graphiccard problem. Also I borrowed my friend's GPU (8800gt) and it was also not working with my mobo (immediate 88 error and black screen all the time)...

I am staying in Poland where there is no DFI Service available. On Dfi.com there is possible to ''service request'' but only in (Belgium , France, Germany, Luxembourg, UK, Netherlands). I have already written email to Technical Support Team for European Countries ,
    Link: http://www.dfi.com/portal/CM/cmsupport/xxcmSupportTeam

I described problem, gave all details about motherboard (rev. s/n etc) . I heard that they proably will give my RMA number and address to send my motherboard to their service. Is it true ? Should I be given RMA number & address ?? ;/ (of course mb is under guarantee & and I have invoice)

    Any advice ?
    Thanks for your help.

You should try some things first:

Change the power supply for a stronger one.

try to boot with a pci VGA card on VGA output.

put only 1 memory module in the first ram bank and perform a CMOS reset.

When you receive a RMA number you will have to send the Mobo to DFI netherland.

The person to talk with about RMA issues is Wendell Smith.

I had the same problem back in April. I swapped all the component over to the new motherboard and everything worked. I sent the board to California and got it back last month. It was the same board. It looks like they just swapped the bios. I didn't get a chance to test in until this weekend. Same post 88 error. I'll try again if I can get a new RMA number, (took me two weeks the last time.)

When you get yours back, test it immediately!

I had the exact same problem, right down to the video cards not seeming like they had enough juice. I had to RMA my board, it was no longer with us.

    Greetings!

I've had this problem a couple of times with my DK P45 T2RS+.
The first time it happend was with a 4870. It wouldn't post or boot or anything. Dead.
I've put my 8800GTS G92 back in and everything was OK.
It happend again last night. I was stress testing everything because I was adjusting the fan speeds.
I was priming and furmark-ing and suddenly the pc just froze.
May be because of my Antec EA430, because the load on the 12V rail is just too much...I was monitoring it, software and it dropped to a dangerously low 11.39V. After this, the board was 8.8.
So I removed the graphics card and the memory and now I was getting a 7F error...stupid me for clearing the cmos before doing that (7F means checksum error).
So I put the graphics card on the second pci-x slot and now I get C1.
Put the ram back in and the graphics card back on the first slot and now everything is ok.

I'm not sure why this problems are happening, but I guess it's either the PSU (although I have a strong 12.03V on the 12V on idle) or the BIOS.
It is annoying, but I'm not sure why it does it.

Still no response for my email sent to DFI engineer (for EU countries) ... Should I be more patient ?

Do you have any email contact etc. with Wendell Smith ?

I don't know if it can be PSU in my case... I have beQuiet DarkPower 750W and everything was working fine with my DFI&i920@4.2GHz for more than one month. Moreover yesterday I chcecked my PSU with my friend's computer and my gtx280 and everything was working as normal...

had code 88 2 times. i rma'd. it. first time i got some wierd voltage readings before code 88, second time my NB area blew. so i think RMA time. code 88 is a undefined code. meanly coused by bios corruption or board failure.

    good luck

    Hello:

I think you I replied to you by email regarding this matter this morning. I had a day off yesterday and no one is here on the weekends, hence the late response. In any event I'm afraid that we do not offer direct RMA service to residents of Poland. This being the reason why you cannot select it in the pulldown menu. Simply request service via the party from whom you purchased the board.

Ok... I sent my MB to my retailer , then it would proably be send to DE .
    I Have got 2 questions:

Do you RMA defective motherboards only in NL ?? or it can be RMAed also in Germany ?

and 2nd question: How long time it usually takes to replace/repair RMAed motherboard ? I have heard that DFI has quite efficient service but I am afraid it will take ages when I get back my mb ;(

In fairness, I need to correct my post. The problem I experienced with the returned DFI board turned out to be my processor, (first bad CPU since 1987)! The 8.8 post error was the same. My processor did work for two month in my Classified without issue until it failed, so I do believe the first problem was real. (It sucks trying to troubleshoot systems when you only have one of everything, (in the same formfactor.) Of course, I no longer have that problem. I think I’ll turn the DFI into the ESXi server…

1: Only those residing in the 6 countries listed in the pull-down menu can apply for direct RMA service. Everyone else must go thru their supplier

2: "Return time" estimates are impossible to gauge when a product must be returned via the supply chain. It could vary from a few weeks to more than a month. Once a given RMA arrives at our doorstep the process is reasonably efficent. It is the inevitable delays sending products up and down the supply chain that are the issue.

I had the same problem, that is related to bad BIOS chip - it is common DFI board problem ... but no improvements from old AMD borads.

I ordered (for +/- 10 EUR) new BIOS chip from Italy with new version of BIOS and repair my board myself. BIOS was at home in few days ...

Look here at XS, i found contact to Italian BIOS service here

i have tried one board (not mine) today, that worked fine before with 920 C0, but didnt want to work with my w3520, with code 88
bios was latest, dont know why it happend
after that i got back to my board, and all was ok
i did a little research, code 88 will appear if u didnt install cpu, or remove bios chip
