    Can you try the following:
Let it reboot at default values and than shutdown normally. Wait and
startup again than enter the BIOS and than do your settings BUT do NOT set CPU FSB yet (let it on auto) and reboot again, let it startup windows. Than shutdown the last time and reboot and enter the BIOS once again and set the FSB to whatever OC you used.
This works for me! I can shutdown/reboot without having to set the BIOS again.

Problem is not the FSB setting but the Vcore setting. As long as Vcore is on auto, I am seeing no issues whatsoever. Set it to manual and it s up the bios every time if you reboot. That's why I don't ^^

Hi Jcool, did you have any other problems with LAN teaming? I am trying to get my two adapters to work together as one as they are connected to a gigabit switch. One thing I find weird is that one of the adapters will only negotiate at 100MBPs half duplex and the other at 1000MBPs full duplex. I have tried under XP and Vista (both x64) and also tried setting the speed manually via the driver, which causes negotiation to fail completely...

When I team the adapters, web browsing almost grinds to a halt, something is definitely wrong - any help would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Andrew

hey all, I'm thinking about selling my z7s and my qx9775, and going core I7, im tired of the lack of overclocking ability.
so could anyone tell me a good price to sell the package as?
    In CDN$
i was thinking around 800-1000, but is that to much? ram is included of course.

If anyone ran into problems running certain graphics cards at PCIe 2.0 here is a supposed fix. I haven't tested it myself yet as I'm at work, will do tomorrow. In my case the issue is with a 260 in the second PCIe slot (RAID controller is in the PCI-X slot, hence the second slot) From what I gathered from the mail history Asus reproduced and fixed the error with a 9800GT.

you are willing to sell a pair of qx9775, a z7s and the ram for <1k CDN$? sounds very 'appealing' to me...

I finally gave up on mine, as well. The CPUs deserved a home that works.

Yeah it sucks. We're gonna try and do a hotflash of the bios chip tho, as I have a feeling it may be the bios crapping out again.
My 2nd one is still going strong BTW, passed 6 weeks uptime for the 2nd time now... *knocks on wood*

Actually the one Jaco got back from Asus was the same he sent in, and it seems to be the bios (again), so it's not really 2 boards dead... Unlike mine, which by the way STILL is in rma with Asus, for the 3rd time now. These idiots keep sending me back the defective one. Never had crap like this happen to me before...

    PM incoming.

Any board that got or needs an RMA is on my list. The faults are unacceptable.

    Guys:
Time for you all to take a different approach to this.
Documnent that the boards you sent for replacement are the same ones they sent back and that the same issue is ongoing.
Then take this and file a complaint with the justice dept for fraud on Asus part.
They are not honoring the expressed intent of the warranty and that is false advertising or simply fraud.
They are liable to make good on their warranty to you and sending back the same bad boards is in violation of that expressed warranty.

That's really the answer. They sold a faulty product and are playing games with all of you on RMA's..
Time for you guys to let them know how pissed you are and plan to take legal action through the justice dept.
Maybe name Newegg also as they continued to sell these after knowing of the problem.

Wow, we lost like the last page of this thread... that sucks.

Anyway... *starts singing Queen*: Another one bites the dust...

My PSU finally blew somewhere around tonight (yeah I know I saw it coming.. should have done something about it), rig went down between 3 and 4 am and wouldn't fire back up. I replaced the PSU, and now it does start up, but gives the dreaded "FF" error code.
Fortunately I got a brand new one back from RMA last week, so I can replace it immediately. Still, it sucks. Mainly because I still don't know what's causing it to fail... Maybe the dead PSU blew something, who knows, but I doubt it.

All right.. swapped mobo & PSU, and my server is alive again... talk about high maintenance cost lol
Seems like the storage system got hit pretty hard by the failing PSU tho, Win XP x64 refuses to boot and the Raid 5 array reports as degraded
Rebuilding now, approx 3,5 hours for that 1,8TB array - thank Intel for the 1,2Ghz Dualcore XOR

I think I'll just use this as an opportunity to change the OS, I've wanted Server 08 on this one for quite some time now.

    wow, that many boards?
    that's just insane,
    mine still in working shape,
just not pleased with it what so ever,
    trying to sell it atm,
for as low as 800$ with cpu, ram, and heatsink.
