He he, I got almost the exact same clock priming right now with a Q9650 & 4 x 1GB Sticks.

Worker threads are all over the place but its still running I'll post up my settings if it runs a loop properly.

CPU Voltage is crazy, I think I've got about 1.45625 set in bios which drops to 1.4 something in windows which then droops to 1.36 under Linpack load with vdroop control disabled!!! DFI have got to sort this out!!!

NB, CPU & VTT are all a good few clicks over what they need to be btw.

Keep the bios templates coming. I am still trying to sort this board out. Those templates are helpful!

    Q9650 @ 4.3ghz 4 X 1gb @ Ddr1148

4.3GHz was still running when I got hack from the Pub so here's the settings I used.

As I mentioned earlier the VTT, VNB are a good few clicks over what was needed but I was concentration on getting 4 x 1gb sticks to run with low voltage rather than nailing an overall low voltage clock.

The vcore is also a few clicks higher than it needs to be as I tested it with ITB/Linpack after getting the rig CPU stable with Prime custom runs. I found IBT/Linpack needed the extra voltage to complete successfully.

I think 4.3GHz could be on the edge of stability judging by the way the Primes worker threads wandered during this loop. I will play about with 4.3GHz to see if I can get the threads to run more even & post my findings if I work it out.

I'll add some Everest (about 10200mbs across the board & 50ns from memory), 3D & anything else anybody wants to see to this post as soon as I get some free time, I got to wine & dine my good lady tonight & I'm working all weekend again!!!

Yes I can boot 500 x 9 into windows & run benches but I don't think I can make it Prime stable. I am sure its not the CPU holding me back more like the board.

But what about 500x8 stable and 24\7 using? I guess this board can do this.

I appreciate the Q94/9550 has a lower multi & people with those chips would need 500fsb but 500 x 8 = 4.0GHz & my chip can do 4.2~4.3 easy so its not something I'm interested in running.

I haven't finished squeezing the board yet but in all honesty I don't think my rig will be stable at 500 x 8 or 500 x any multi. I don't think the board is strong enough (I would love to be proved wrong btw) This could all change with a BIOS update though

I will give 500 x something a shot & if need be I'll bolt my Vapo on it as well. I would also like to put the Q9650 in my DK P45 just to see how it handles it, who knows it could be a killer.

4 Sure I'll give it a go but I do feel the board is starting to loose it after 470fsb. It could just be me skillz or my kit but the board has stopped scaling so It isn't looking promising.

I like ASUS a lot but I'm thinking more toward a Giga UD3P as my next board, I haven't had a Giga for years since GA8NXP socket 939 so I think its about time to give them a crack at the whip again.

I think the basic PCB is the same for all the boards & thats probably why they all have the common issue with quads.

Don't get me wrong I'm actually quite happy with my UT P45 it truly is a lovely board to play with but I'm with you, they are missing something for quads.

I sold all my GKX & I've had good luck with GMH so I wasn't to pissed about it. The sucky thing is I believe DFI know how to make GKX work properly on the P35 but because the board had been replaced by x38/48 they just couldn't be bothered, a bit sad for such an awesome board but thats just the way it goes.

It seems that many of the others posting here have ATI/AMD cards and do not have this issue so they neither know or care about the link width problem with DFI P45 boards and some Nvidia cards.
I can answer your question, it has not been fixed and DFI most likely can not fix it. If you go to the DFI Club or Clunk's Forums you will find other cases of incompatibility with various DFI P45 boards, both the ddr 2 and ddr3 versions and Nvidia cards, not only the 200 series but older 8800's as well.
I have given up hoping for a fix for this and am tired of running at a crippled 4x link width so I bought an Asus P5Q Pro this week as a replacement, going back to my ATX case.
It's a shame though, because otherwise, the DFI was an excellent board

Right now I can't get any overclocks out of this thing. With out upping several voltages, and I am talking about very mild oc's like going from 2.8 to 3.0. I know once I got my memory sorted on my LP P35 everything else fell into place and my Q6600 would do just over 3.0 @ stock voltages on everything but the NB.

Edit: I know I am comparing apples to oranges here but so far I am not impressed with the P45. I hope to see a bios update soon.

    @ Kris

If in doubt about your memory set it safe, It should at least do 1066 CL5 on 2.3v

    Set 333/667 strap/divider.

I think I got well into the mid 400's before needing to change anything tricky . I just added 1.3vnb 2.3vdimm & set vcore up to make 1.36v in windows.

The next big thing for me was GTL's .6700 on everything sorted that out you may want to try it. Oh & GTL buffer to weak helped here too.

I later tweaked the NB up to .6900 along with skew tweaks to keep the vdimm down but you wont need to bother with this for a mild OC.

Well, I got the QX yesterday and I got the motherboard today. Just assembled everything, running watercooling on the cpu, OCZ 9200 5-5-5-15 ram and everything runs well at 3GHz and DDR2 800, cpuz says 1,168 and core temp says VID 1,25. (a little confused, but I think I get it) Getting familiar with the board after sitting with a semi outdated AMD system for a year

After having a look at the numbers and letters on the CPU, I would say it is an old chip ... L740B306 is the batch right? Not familiar with intel steppings very well.

Will try pushing fsb a little today and see if I can get the memory to run faster.
