Basic Core i7 Video Overclocking Guide/How-To

We cut this together this week starting from Saaya's excellent tutorial on overclocking the Core i7, and although it's not really tuned for the crowd around here, hopefully some of the basic concepts presented (in regards to the differences between Core i7 overclocking and Core 2 overclocking) will be helpful for those new to the Core i7.

Thanks guys. I just don't want other people to have to spend as much time learning the basics as I did. Once you get the terminology down, it's a little bit easier to do reading up on it.

Hmmm, is 1.25 volts really a good recommended limit or would 1.3+ be acceptable for the new core i7?

Excellent guide! Love how the mobo boxes keep ninja-changing on your table as you progress: first Intel's x58, then the Rampage and P6T...

1.25v on VCore. No i7 can OC with such a low voltage. The R2E BIOS sets the i7 CPU v up to 1.50 as the safe limit. Intel specs provide the safe range to 1.375-1.400v.

But, Kudos on taking the time and initiative in making the Video. It was professionally done.

1.25 is enough to take my 920 up to 3.7 without issues.... Maybe I just have a good chip?

Once you start to put vCore into these things they get HOT.

Cool video until the nerdy tripping @ the end, which makes it ultra funny if done on purpose and even funnier if you were just being a nerd. No really, did a great job, thanks very much.

Awesome video man. I've been out the game since Conroe was released, so this video has been very informative for me. Thanks to everyone that helped put it together.
