According to HKEPC we might expect 3G phenoms quite soon, they managed to get the model numbers as well. http://www.hkepc.com/?id=1816&fs=c1hp
Unfortunately they did not run any benches yet.

    The model numbers.

More interesting in prices than benches right now, as people cant seem to bench these chips right so I rely on you guys to do that. Dual socket wouldnt half be nice around now...

what, the "embargo till January 8th" as been lifted or what?

I'm also more interested in price tags, and if 20550 is available in be flavour, than benches ATM

Kinda nice to see what these will do with AM2+ first anyway..I can wait for AM3 mobos untill Jan/Feb. The nice SB750 AM2='s just barely got here and will be plenty to play with...

I can run 1150/1200mhz ram with 9950 and ive seen people above 1300mhz... AM3/DDR3 to me just means i wont have to Oc my 1066

Yes the New 45's will run ALL DDR2/DDR/3 . The AM3 Mobo is mainly needed to boot the DDR3 Because of timing //Bios Reasons and the Higher HT.. There is DDR2 that runs 1250+mhz easy now and even my SB600/SB750 does 5000HT+.

,,AM3 mobo's will be nice ,but pricy i think ,,

haahaa Me and friends at bar Saturday talkin cars over saki and beer.

Give me tha Chipy already ,, i use me Honda to overcranck it buurp more Soki pLee's..Burppp.. haahaa vroom...

they should, but looks like AMD has given a step back in that point.

theres no point to. they made an am2+ for people who don't want to upgrade to ddr3 right away and just want a new cpu. and an am3 for ddr3 motherboards. whats the point of having the chip do both ddr2 and ddr3? then it costs more and they sell less chips. instead of someone buying an am3 chip with both memory controllers they are selling am2+ only ones and then if people want to upgrade to ddr3 then they will have to buy another chip. its a smart move if you ask me.

i still dont believe ddr3 is even worth it yet, or for a very long time. they still have the opportunity to use more channels and go in that direction instead of max mhz.

I completely agree with that, it would end up with a lot of transistors in standby mode, it would only be good for the ones that want to upgrade and would spare a few buck with upgrading the cpu also.
As company AMD they did the right move, as they will also sell more chipsets. For me I won't go for AM3 prior to the release of RD890, and that's at least a year from now.

From what I understand ,First Denebs will be backwards compatible, then phased into AM3 only,IIRC.Will look for a link..Waiting on a Toliman and the 790FXB M2RSH as I type.Ill wait for Deneb to go full Quad.Kept seeing reviews at the egg with guys saying their new tri core seemed faster than their quad, got me curious and theyre cheap so....

Why would you wait for RD890? After all its only a chipset or to be more precise PCIe2.0<->HT3.0 Tunnel switch?

What it actually is, is the AM2+ Denebs are going to fill the gap till the AM3 boards release, as well as the AM3 versions of the CPU's. Deneb AM2+ will be AM2+ only, they won't run on regular AM2 boards, due to the split power plane. I suspect that IMC, and Cores are now set to run at lowest stable voltages, or different voltages all together. Installing on a regular single plane AM2 board would burn out one or the other. AM3 chips on the other hand will be backwards compatible with AM2+ socket boards and DDR2 memory. On the other hand, the AM3 socket is one pin less than Am2/am2+ so an AM2 cpu won't fit in an AM3 board. Since all Am3 boards are DDR2 it wouldn't make since anyways since am2 chips can't run DDR3 memory.

I'm with you on this.... The marginal difference won't be enough for me to spend the kind of money they will cost. I just don't care that much (man I'm a bad liar )

Seriously though, each time we have a new gen of memory, it proves to be such a small incremental improvement, that no one other then people who sit there all day long and run Everest Mem bench really care. Heck, another coupla Mhz on the CPU speeds up the memory too....

Still won't make my games any more fun to play, SOS....

You mean those that pay 1.5x the price just to get true 16 phase VRMs?
