2nd stage cap tube 3m but i think its to long and some pipe work of 2nd stage hi side

    cooking evap for breckfast lol

out with the old and in with the new

    done and fitted

2nd stage vac and gassed with 200psig of co2
    the first frost on evap

some r507 in with the co2

    some case modding

hpco bolted down and other part mounted

    side veiw

lid back on and time for some tuneing need to get a cpu on it for load testing and tuneing but thats later

ive had some truble with the 2nd stage with it fluctuating on the low side and droping in temp i also think the 1st stage is over charged but i will see going to recover the gasses and vac it down and start again with the charging any tip and advice from the guys that build cascades will be greatly aprecated
    thanks for looking carl....

    very nice

id love to see ethylene in this. but i wouldn't recommend this until you get a very good vacuuming procedure and vacuum pump. not gunna start a flame thread here tho :P

do you work incredibly fast or do you take lots of pictures and post them at once?

    nice

teyber dont spose you got one of your temprite 900 spaire you could send to me in the uk?? got oil logging on the snd stage

oh and the vac process is fine 2 lbp comps in tandum and purged with co2 between vac's they pull down to -29 on the gages and atm a vac pump is far to much cash for me to shell out i got to use what i got

yeah i took all the images and built the unit then posted it all @ once had to post 3 time to get all the image in lol

I don't think you have as much oil clogging problems as you do have dry ice forming problems. More R507, less CO2, but that will get your temperatures higher

Good job nontheless, small and compact cascade this is!

no dry ice yet it dont pull full vac it just bounce the gage on the low side with no oil sep i bet its pushing the oil in to the hi side and then it goes to the cap and dips the gage then back up when its clear dry ice would be just all vac all the time more 507 will aid the flow of oil greatlly but like you said temp will be cack

    update
ive added an manual oil sep to the 2nd stage and its working alot better
no more bouncing of the the low side gages but i cant get past -70c with co2i try'd it with 250psig of just co2 and it worked down to about -60c then it hit dry ice so i add'd some r407c lol i ment to add 507 but picked up the wrong bottle i got it past -70c but then after some time i had ice all round the bottom of the compressor
not sure what to do now lol need a better gas 1st off
ive also done a bit more lagging to the system

i have a problem with my wiring cant find it tho i had a small shock from the unit last night may be its cause it has a 2 pin euro plug on it going to swap it out for the standard 3 pin jobby also the control box was out of the case and i dont think it was earth'd properlly
did not want that to happen need to put my earth leakage device so i dont get any more shocks

Im in talks at getting an Evap that will be capable of holding some sort of load lol.

Hope you can get it to hold a decent load on your quad.

right i done a bit more to the cascade had to strip it down to do some mods on the 1st stage and i must say i am absoultlly useless @ ac wiring think i figured it out tho now lol had trouble with the temp probe on the controller it would not go below -26 even tho the k-type in the same place was @ -40
also the 1st was very very over charged as i was getting ice on the compressor and it was running cold

so things i have done tonight
1-rapped the cap tube arond the suction line for subcooling
    2-wired up lights/switchs/compressors/controller tested
3-fitted new k-type and moddified the controller probe for 2nd stage swith on
4-exstended low side service port on 1st stage as had some trouble with the shraders frezzing up not nice (its cold by the way)
5-bolted down the 2nd compressor properly

    pic's

red light - over pressure warning
blue light - 2nd stage on
green light - 1st stage on
amber light - hot gas bypass on
green switch lit - mains power on
amber switch lit - hot gas bypass on

need to make the oil sep smaller or get auto one

1st stage temps and pressures after moddifcation
hx is now hovering between -51c to -48c it was @ -40c ish so some improvement

with co2/r290 in the 2nd stage the highest i saw was -78c for about 3/10 of a second after about 20mins it drops to about the -70c mark and sits there

i just want to get it all built now and get a cpu on it
its so much ball ake haveing to backpedal @ this stage i'll get there in the end

bit more progress and some more images

    ohhhhh -81c

i think ive over done it with the armaflex on the suction line lol

@teyber do you mean like this?

shrink tube came today and i managed to get 3 layers of 13mm @ the evap lol

my mounting device and lagging its huge

damn load testers a bad whan they got armaflex on them

put mine on the cascade tonight @200w lol it held for about 15mins @ -60c with co2 /r290 in the 2nd stage then i had to hit the hot gas
bypass to test it then it went all down hill from there and then came the smoke from the heatloader it was was way to hot for the evap that
was @ -13c from it not recovering from the hot gas bit lol
    still playing and testing
    more progress soon
    thanks for looking

right the cascade is @ a full stand still

as of wedsnesday my employer has put us on a 3 day week so now i have no money for the r1150 i was going to get or the vac pump
"puts his head in hands and crys like a little girl endlessly" lol
it looks like the cascade will never get to the stage i wanted it (well it will only be co2 cascade) and thats pants was hoping for -100c but looks like -70c will have to do
i will get the case back on and finnish up the install and try the q6600 on it but i doubt it will hold
