its a good idea, but i need the cooling + card to be single slot as i need the only available for my sound card

ok heres the update...

turns out my Q9450 is dead... no idea why set up a test rig and when i powered up the system all i could smell is burning of its little sole... threw in a
E2180 and it booted up perfectly... tested it in another right and had the same
problem...

now im processor less.. so i might have to self off a few items before i can
get another. (P5E-VM boxed with all accessories, OEM Maximus Formula give
me an offer...)

in other news, ive decided to move the layout around and i think ive found a
winner i need more rivets, and i need to fab up a few support beams

what was your voltages set at. Dude, i wouldnt drop in another processor until you find out how it died. Or things will keep on dying.

I did have one thought, the JR only has 4 phases of power to the CPU. That's not many these days. If the power regulation wasn't up to scratch, could that kill a CPU?

Again, it may have just been a nasty power spike or something.

actually it was all default, though i did do the mistake of dropping the processor a few times but i wouldn't think that would cause in issue im guessing i cracked the one of the dies

Fair enough, I knew it was probably a stupid question at the time (having not read through the thread ) but I just couldn't be sure considering this is a SFF build and there are some that just want the low temps/stock clocks in a cramped space.

Shame to lose the quad though, I know it can be fairly disheartening

yea i was really looking forward to this build, and i kind of needed it too
i can strip a processor from my main rig but i would still be 1 processor less
so either way i need to come up with another hopefully a quad as im
trying to get my render farm going

The entire Q9650 family.


QX9650 Q9650 X3370 <-- 1/2 twin.

So far only the QX and the Q9650's is up.

I had to take both twins down for a board swap. I dont like the Low end P5Q's.
