I've had some problems with version 6.2.14
Couldn't get that machine to show up in Boincview.
Maybe it has something to do with the new version -> it's 'service'
    installation only.

Then I tried several things which screwed up the Boinc installation.
    All Wu's in error

Reinstalled 5.10.45 again and all is well again.

I upgraded 2 Vista x64 rigs to 6.2.14 on 7/30. No problems and it may have helped fix a F@H GPU2 issue that I had. Everything is running Great!

Update: 6.2.14 has been moved back to beta status. 5.10.45 is still the recommended version for all operating systems.

Just to let anyone who's curious know, the install was very simple. Goes right over the other version and starts back up in seconds like nothing ever happened.

Not that I know of... I only updated 1 machine from 5.10.45 so far.. update doesn't really work, it kind of leaves the old client on your PC but somehow disables it. Also I'd advise anyone who wants to update to upload all finished WUs beforehand, as they are NOT transferred to the new client :/
Also try not to have WUs at 90% or something, because that CPU time will be lost too.

It went very well on all my crunchers, they just continued on with wu`s., choose the client manually if your on vista 64, if you only take whats offered, it will install a 32bit client, in some cases.

Just an FYI. All the beta clients have been removed from the main BOINC download page. Only recommended versions are listed now. Of course, this could change in the future.

    http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

You can still find the beta versions here.

Is it possible to manually transfer the old WU's to the new version? or do I have to finish off with the old ones first before i install the new version? I noticed the location of the projects and slots folders are different from the old one...

you should be able to install right over the old boinc and it will pick right back up where you left off When you exited the program
