System specs in sig, mobo and video not updated. I know its in here somewhere but is there any good posts dealing with tuning up a E8400 with 4x sticks of G.Skill PC-6400 ram? Ideally getting my CPU back to 4Ghz is ideal, even more so for benching will rock

Also one thing I noticed with this over my ABIT IP35-Pro that I have. At least with the V-Droop setting enabled, when I reads 1.175V bios its actually ~1.2V. Man before I had to pump 1.37V in the bios to get 1.225V to get my chip stable at 4Ghz, with this seems like I should be able to hit 4Ghz on default VID. Is it recommend to run V-Droop on or off?

Ah just giving him some crap hes the one that really did it in for me on this board. Haven't had a chance yet to play with the settings that you suggested yet. Actually not sure if my ram will do 500Mhz, I know I've gotten them to 480Mhz but still wasn't sure if they where stable at that time.

Will pumping that much into the NB it it to excessively hot, since right now I do not have a fan directly blowing on it? I don't have a fan to fit the NB properly yet, got an old P4 fan that I plan on mounting onto it after I get it down to size and slap my CPU fan on the top side of the heatsink to suck air through it. Just going from what my old P35 chipset was and it acted OK without the fan blowing onto it and that was the stock cooler giving it 1.5V.

Well I think I have to dial in my ram a little more and get a feeling for it. I tried your pull settings zsamz and it works at default, but crashes when I try OCing it. Wouldn't even take at 1.55V NB for 400FSB. Backed it down to 1.4V and works with everything on auto so far for 400Mhz. Decent temps too, used smartguardian to read the NB temps. Hovering in the low 40's currently.

Hey guys, i've been searching this thread for couple of days about a problem i'm having with my mtron mobi drive and bsod with this mobo.
I've been trying to install winxp64 and get the bsod after the first reboot.
It installs fine on a raptor. i'm running everything stock settings. My next step is to upgrade the bios. Any suggestions or ideas of other things to try are appreciated

... and again, this is still not an official release yet. Unbelievable. DFI, you are slipping, in a bad shape.

Looks like internal NB Timings have been relaxed as performance is worse:

    BIOS 07/14:

Settings are identical except for Vcore and disabled EIST/C1E. My previous 24/7 stable OC wasn't stable anymore and currently I'm trying to find the reason.

It seems to be stable again with stock Vcore and Special Add 100.70%. Although performance is worse I could not lower Vnb, seems that CPU load on NB eats up everything. Currently, I'm not impressed.

    Still not stable...

    Little O.C. Help

Hi, New to this much of detailed Bios for Overclocking (came from NF4 Mobo so simple easy BIOS).

But with my DFI X38 mobo and Q6600 G0, what would be your guys recomend for max CPU VTT Voltage? Trying to see how high I can get this beast, but with Air cooling my Volts are limited. Currently my CPU VID Control is at 1.4000v) and that seems to be about the max I really want to go(maybe 1.42 if really needed,@ 1.4v I see Low 60's on all cores after couple hours of Prime95).

    current Set up is:

    357x9= 3213mhz @ DDR2 1073
    CPU VID = 1.4000
    Dram Volts= 2.12
    NB Volts= 1.504v
    CPU VTT v.= 1.442v

Any kind of help would be great, searched through all posts couldn't see anything that would help me alot, but if I missed something a quote and your a idiot would be great

Now that I've had alittle time to settle in with this board and play some games I want to tinker

Can anyone tell me why the heck this board overvolts 45nm CPU's sooo damn much? I'm pretty such i'm using the 3/14/2008 bios with SLAPL rev CO/MO batch Q815A086 5/28/08 E8400 1.25V max.

Yes, I do have Vdroop option enabled.

Just to let you know first, after I set a CPU VID then save and reboot, if I go into the bios at the bottom of that same screen you can see the actual voltage being received(which never match the CPU VID). In those actual voltages received the CPU Core's Voltage matches Everest and CPU-Z readings spot on.

    Bios CPU VID 1.2200~ AUTO = 1.184 CPU-Z/Everest/Bios
    Bios CPU VID 1.12500 = 1.168 CPU-Z/Everest/Bios
    Bios CPU VID 1.16250 = 1.200 CPU-Z/Everest/Bios
    Bios CPU VID 1.18125 = 1.232 CPU-Z/Everest/Bios

Is this because vdroop enabled? I haven't noticed any drop in the programs when I'm at load... this is a ton of overvolting.. Why so much?

Someone explain to this noob .. and why the heck does the auto do the opposite of the others?

I'm prime95'ing at VID 1.12500 = 1.168 CPU-Z/Everest etc right now. I tried to run 400x9 on stock auto settings but bluescreened loading vista hehe... oh well. I have a feeling it's not the vcc that is the cause anyway.

    Any help?

I don't have my board yet but I think maybe you might want to just try turning off the vdroop function and see what you get.

Yea indeed, seeing as ive already done 600FSB on mine aswell.

    Dry ice.

You guys know where i can get heatsinks for my UT P35, those heatpipes suck if you want to watercool your NB chip.

Seeing that you're located in South Africa I don't know really, but you can use almost any block for the NB. I use some cheap Alphacool NSB block but many other are working, too. Problem with the UT is, if you unmount the heatpipe you're gonna have to deal with Sb and PWM, too. SB is no problem, any small cooler will do. PWM, well. You'd either need the passive PWM cooling of a P35/X38 LT which is great, or something like this:

Mips PWM block, really love it so far cause it uses titan nano grease instead of a conductive pad, also cools the pulse modulator chips (they get ing hot) and looks slick. Got PWM temps of around water + 15 which is great for a 4Ghz Q6600.
