gtx 280 is king of games.

this link to me proves its the ultimate single GAMING card on the planet
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=191643
    read the crysis\coh min fps!!!!

im still unsure of why ppl would buy such hi priced GAMING cards just to bench.but whatever floats your boat like fugger i actually game and game HARDCORE,im talking neweset games like crysis,cod4,ut03,bf2,quake4 at my moniters higher res settings.1600x1200 for me in minumum with amax i run at 2048x1536.this single card allows me to fully replace my 8800gtx with raw horsepower for these games.i seen these numbers and read all the reviews, its single card king period. look at the MINUMUM this card gets on crysis and coh,i was BLOWN away.i will update this thread more as my card gets deliverd here tommorow. for gamers this card is a dream come true,i guess for benchmarkers its something new to fry in the $650 range, heh.whatever this card should make for a great summer\winter fraggin with the best GAMES now and ones being released so0n.

gtx 280-single card king...so happy i cant even stand it.i have thought about sli also cause i run evga 750sli mobo in my main rig.

ummmmm no. 4870 will be king - quadfire is miles ahead of "king"

Seriously though, $650 for a card that's a few frames faster than the "older" GX2?

Railmeat has a passion. Gaming at max. When 2 FPS gives you an advantage and a GTX280 (of course overclocked) gives you that why not? If the new ATI is better, a whopping 2 FPS, and he upgrades, well cool for him. Sell me the GTX 280 please Railmeat when ya UG. I remember spendin $$ for my Thrustmaster sticks to RULE in Falcon and Descent. To have a advantage is everything in competition, no matter the cost....almost. Damn reality.

It gives us feedback on how good the new stuff is (hopefully) and a push to all of us to make more $$$ so we can do it too.

But, if it means to me as ugly as his pic (OMG Fugly) is, then I'd rather be middle class.

Me? Waiting for GTX 260 and ATI to release. Goddddd, the WB is not cheap either.

Single card...yes, the GTX280 is overall best. No need to depend on SLI for performance, better power consumption at idle, and much better at running Folding @ Home (a major consideration for me).

When prices drop I plan to get a GTX280. My current motherboard doesn't support two dual-slot cards in Crossfire, doesn't support SLI (G33 uATX chipset...meh). So what I need is a strong single-card solution, and I don't want to depend on the 9800GX2 because I'd have to disable SLI for folding, and if I wanted to game I'd have to stop the client, risk losing a WU, and re-enable it. Then do it in reverse to fold again. An inconvenience that I'd rather not deal with.

If they drop to $500 this year I'll get one, I'll think about it if they get below $600.

Though the first option is a loaded sentence...it is the single-card king IMO but by no means is it worth $650 or the wait. I mean, it HAS been over a year and a half since G80 came out and nVidia is JUST NOW releasing a card I'm considering as an upgrade. So meh.

Lets not forget these cards are aimed at High Res gaming.
I currently have the 9800GX2 and suffer with AA @2560x1600 (i cant use AA at all) and these cards are meant to sort that issue out.

I have the EVGA 280GTX SSC on the way and once I can get confirmation that SLI will be ok in the S2E ill be getting a second.

Then i'll be happy (until the next upgrade that is)

The chart says it uses 25w when idle, and as far as i know that's accurate. Idle means 'not in use'.

    Taken from MSI site

    VS

    Taken from the French people.

What do the French understand under the word 'Idle' :lmao:

    Edit, it's fake?
Like.. the 4850 is using more Watts in Idle.. than the big'ass GTX280 ? :')

No kidding!! First he trolls ATI 4850 review thread bragging about his card and now makes a poll to make himself feel better about his purchase.

Seriously, most mobos out there supporting Intel Cpu's are Xfire ready. The 4870 or 4870X2 is a better buy unless Nvidia allows for SLI on Intel chipsets.

SLI ready motherboards are a fraction of the user base not to mention leave a sour taste in your mouth.. Single GTX280 is the fastest single GPU solution, but will get owned by the 4870X2.

I've been out of benching for around a year now and anyway it was always secondary to gaming for me so seriously stop posting pointless, endless spam about how great this card is. So you bought one, guess what: I personally couldn't care less. And why the hate for benchmarking anyway? It sounds too much like you're calling every benchmarker out there an idiot and that is just plain disrespectful Now I'll leave this thread to die and you to continue to jump around in excitement like a 4 year old over a piece of hardware

bleh bleh, just got done playing bf2 and quae4 2048x1536 75 fps settings jacked..i really love it and fully suggest it.

2 best single CORE cards out.

can do sli...another $650 tho,nah not now.simply not needed.price falls lil bit$500-less,sure sli it is.

2 killer cards ,2 killer p\s pushing em 850\1250 watters.let the games begin!!!

and as far as the benchmarking comments.there only said cause after shelling out the cash i just did and been doing i could NEVER see trying to push\break any of this stuff.mild overclock are cool for improved fps but must have GAMING STABILTY for my GAMING cards running GAMES.but beat on this hardware no way.im enjoying it.and just wanna tell anyone on the fence about buying one of these over your 9800gtx,8800gtx...DO IT.cause i just pulled out my 8800gtx and this thing just FEELS alot better with stuff jacked at 2048x1536 effortlessly.

So if the card is so "awesome" what the hell are you still doing trying to show off on a forum? Right now you're coming across as someone who is desperately trying to get attention and as a dumbass fanboi

And WTF is it with those orange pics?

If you gave him an 8400GS and an HD4870, he'd still come up with a reason to tell you the Nvidia card was better.
